There's about a 99% chance your friend will not like it. Of all the common cuisines I am familiar with, I think Thai and Indian (and maybe Japanese) are among the most difficult for getting picky eaters to sample.
Try this. Get some take-out from two places: an Indian place you like and some other place you know your friend will enjoy. This way, you can get your friend to try the Indian food, knowing that if they don't like it, there's other food to eat.

I am what alot of people consider to be very picky and I think Indian food is yummy. I really do think it would work great for someone similar. Seriously, you won't know until you try it.
I used to eat lunch at an Indian buffet fairly often at one job I had and everything they had was "beginner" nonspicy food. But if you're not careful, you can get some food that is hotter than the hottest Thai/Chinese/Mexican. But your waiter should be able to tell you what is spicy vs. not.
It's been awhile since I've eaten Indian food, but some of the things that stick out in my mind that your friend might like are naan, tandoori chicken, jasmine rice. She may even like the lassi or chai.

I'm afraid I agree with you. I love Indian food, but most of the people that take to Indian restaurants say it's too spicy or weird. So if she is picky, she probably won't like it.
Having said that, there are a few items that might not raise objections. Tandoori chicken is just roasted chicken without any strange-tasting spices. But it is colored bright red, which might be weird. Biryani is rice with some veggies or meat in it, and it's not too far out.
Maybe you can call ahead and ask the restaurant if they have any entry-level food.
I wonder... what do picky eaters in India eat?

i am not real into Indian food, but when I eat with someone that is very picky, I tend to order all sauces & everything i can on the side. it is easier to try that way

it depends. if u know a really good indian restaurant, you might want to take her there, however ask her first if she'd even try it. u can order just rice and meat in pretty plain sauces, be sure to get non spicy stuff. it depends on what she wont eat, if she likes some of the things involved in indian food, go for it!
