don't buy, make

crab Rangoon

1 pack round won ton wrappers or gyoza wrappers reg. is OK too.
1 small can of crab meat and equal amount of cream cheese
1 squirt of bitters or worshirshire sauce
1 tablespoon of chopped shallots or red onion
1/8 teaspoon of old bay seasoning ( optional) or
salt and pepper

Mix filling until well mixed. use about a half tea spoon of mix, place in the middle of wrapper and seal with beaten egg, fold in half, press to seal , and set aside.
to cook
get a pot or a wok and put about 3 inches of peanut oil in it. Bring temp. to 375 and fry rangoons a few at a time, 5-7 but no more so as not to lower oil temp. They cook quickly so don't walk away. Cook until golden, drain on towels and serve as app. with duck sauce or plumb sauce

Making it yourself is the best. Freezing prefried items can taste nasty. Most restaurants make it out of cream cheese with imitation crab meat (whitefish with red food coloring) seasoned with salt, pepper and some chopped green onion wrapped around with won ton skin. When you deep fry it, try not to put too many in. It will lower the temperature drastically. It's better to lightly fry it than over-saturate with oil. Use peanut oil for best flavor.

you too???

I once dated a guy and stayed with him longer just because his mom owned a chinese food shop and she would send us crab rangoon.....

but you can go to a place that supplies frozen food to chinese food stores, you might have to buy a whole box but it's worth it!

Funnily enough, I bought some last week. The Sam's Club chain (Walmart) sells them in not too big boxes. They are in the frozen section. They are like screwed up pieces of tissue paper, not in triangles like they are in my local Chinese

You don't have to go to a store. Why don't you go to a restaurant? Order some and freeze them until you want to eat them.
