Actually, losing weight OR gaining weight can be symptoms of diabetes. Losing weight would more often be a symptom of Type 1 diabetes.
Other symptoms (as mentioned above) include unusual thirst, frequent urination, and blurred vision.
If you're wondering, go to your doctor. It doesn't take long to prick a finger and find out. And don't hesitate, diabetes is nothing to mess around with. The longer your sugars are high, the more damage you're doing to your body.

You will want to drink alot. My mother was drinking root beer like crazy and she ended up in the hospital. Also you will feel very dizzy and pass out if it gets bad enough. you also go to the bathroom to relieve yourself alot more than usual. If you think you may have diabetes then go to the hospital and they can check your sugar levels in a minute. (unless there is a long wait) Good luck hope all is well :)

It's not losing weight - it's gaining weight! Also, it can affect your heart and eyesight. If your vision gets blurry, double vision or is just getting progressively worse. Faintness or dizziness when sugar levels drop to low. The classic thirst and peeing all the time. Sweating.

When you get thirsty often even though you've drunk water regularly. You go to the toilet more often to pee. You start trembling and feel weak if you've missed your meal. You start losing weight drastically.
