current prob. her arm is like "spasming" and she is in terrible pain. she's been to the doc who said he doesnt' know what is, which is what he told her when her chest was hurting too. well, the meds she is taking, along w/ the new ones for pain is raising her blood sugar up to over 500. as in the meter won't tell her what it is, because hers only registers up to 500. anyway, am i crazy or could she die easily w/ blood sugar like that. (all she had to eat the whole day was a bowl of oatmeal.) if she quits taking her psych meds, she kind of loses it, the pain meds and she goes in to pain...she has insulin, but i don't think she takes it like she should, but she said she does. i told her to go to another doc, but she won't. what do you think the effects are going to be if she continues like this. (i am a diabetic, so i know the minor effects of the disease, but have never really asked what happens w/ such high bs numbers.) anyway, any suggestions on any of this?

She needs to get her sugar down right away , call DR and have him tell u what dose of insulin to give her ASAP. The Spasming doesnt sound diabetes related. Very likey coming from her Psyche meds.... many of those will cause spasms , tardive dyskenesia Involuntary movements), twitching, etc. Get in touch with her Psychiatrist about this.

I am writing to tell you what an incredible impact these methods had on my life! I have had type 2 diabetes for 27 years. For me, the worst part of this horrible disease is the severe pain I constantly get in my feet. The pain is so bad that I avoid standing and walking as much as possible. I've got to tell you that within the first month, my feet stopped hurting altogether and I can now walk totally pain free.
Believe it or not, I even danced at my niece's wedding last month, something I have not done in a many years. I've been following the book for six months now and my blood sugar is well within normal range. I feel great!
I recommend you use the Type 2 Diabetes Destroyer to naturally reverse your diabetes.

For mental health, she needs to read this book:
http://www.seekwellness.com/bookstore/books/book65.htm
For diabetes, you need to get the book I describe in the following:
For type I and type II diabetics (and those who could potentially become diabetic)...
I've found a wonderful book that will help you control your diabetes and minimize or even eliminate the complications. Some folks who became diabetic due to poor diet and obesity are effectively cured by following the advice in this book. I'm a type II (inherited), but it helps all types, especially those who became diabetic due to poor eating habits. It's by an author who has really done his homework, Patrick Quillin, Phd. It's called, "The Diabetes Improvement Program". I have tried his suggestions and found them to be very helpful. I have no complications whatsoever and my blood sugar levels are quite stable. Yes, I still have to take Metformin (Glucophage) daily, but it's the minimum dosage (500mg) and I only have to take it twice a day. I have been off Metformin for as much as a week, but this was with vigorous exercise. Many, what I call, non-hereditary type IIs (those that don't have a close relative who had it) have gotten off medication completely, just with diet, exercise, and supplements. So, in some instances, it most certainly can be 'effectively' cured. Read more about it here:
http://www.diabetesimprovement.com/
The book explains what's going on in our system and what to do about it. It's really easy and inexpensive. It's basically diet, supplements and exercise. For example, did you know that cinnamon helps blood sugar absorption? It also controls cholesterol and triglycerides. This is according to the USDA:
http://www.ars.usda.gov/is/np/fnrb/fnrb0104.htm#pinch
For men: Are you suffering from erectile dysfunction? I was. Yes, WAS. Now that everything's under control, I'm able to have nearly normal sex again. I've also put together a little webpage highlighting some of the things I've learned here:
http://www.geocities.com/seabulls69/Type_II_Diabetes.html
Here's another great health site with all kinds of general health information:

First of all try to relax a bit and if possible try to get your mother to relax a bit. Stress is a main cause of rising sugar levels and they are difficult to control in such situations.Regular meals are very important for diabetics especially when on medication.See to it that you mother eats regularly at least three times a day and if possible at regular times,ie about the same time every day.She must be worrying a lot about the pain in her arm.Assure her that it will be alright. You should try to be calm at least in front of her since that can help calm her down. After you have done all this talk to her about consulting another doctor. If her sugar levels remain high, its better to take her to emergency.Such high sugar levels arent good at all especially when they are high for many days.

With that high of a blood sugar level, yes it can kill her. She needs to go to the doctor tomorrow and not leave until they do something about the blood sugar, pain, and anything else that needs taken care of. It sounds to me like she needs to get a doctor who specializes in diabetes and one who gives a damn. She also has to take some responsibility for her medications. Since she has had hardly nothing to eat all day, there is something else rising her sugar and she needs to find out right away. Good luck!

I can't say I have good news for you. 500 is really bad, as in she's prbably wetting herself, dehydrated, and completely delirious(because of the blood sugar, not the other stuff). She needs to get some insulin into her system and to a hospital. I'd call the ambulance or take her to ER, make sure they know she's diabetic and they'll get her to the front of the line.
Once the sugar's back to normal, you can worry about the other stuff, the sugar situation is probably causing seizures (otherwise, sounds like fibromyalgia if its not caused form blood sugar)
Worse case, at least she escapes the prison her body has become.

It's not uncommon for muscles to twitch or spasm when blood glucose levels are that high. My legs get "twitchy" then, too. However, she is TRULY out of control if her BG readings are that high. If she is overweight, it may be because of insulin resistance -- she should see her doctor about that.
If she is on insulin, she needs to take it -- no excuses. Whatever kind of (pardon my language, but being diabetic myself I feel justified) crap is in her head about this, it needs to stop now, or she will find herself in the emergency room.
It sounds to me like she needs counseling almost as bad as better diabetes control. Most hospitals' diabetes outreach centers have programs that are covered by health insurance if a doctor writes a prescription for it.
Good luck with her, and god bless.

yes get her to go to the doctor & quit taking those new meds and try something different. The effects of high blood sugar for a long period of time will make her loose weight, and maybe worse things. She should ask her doctor about a different medication that doesn't raise her blood sugar. IT IS IMPORTANT TO GET TO DOCTOR TO GET SUGARS LOWER THOUGH. GET HER TO A HOSPITAL ASAP

Can you say Hypochondriac?
you answered the question your self. she does not take her Insulin. even a bowl of oatmeal with no sugar has enough carbs to raise a diabetics sugar levels to 500. And no 500 won't kill her right away, first she will loose her feet, liver, kidneys and go blind.
