I've eaten silkworms in Korea, maggots in China and alligator in Florida. Who can beat that, Fear Factor fans?

Calf brains.

Like, a plate with a completely unadorned calf brain sitting in the middle of it. This was when I lived in France as an exchange student.

Mad cow disease, anyone? I can't think of a more direct way for screwy prions to get in your diet than that!

I actually could not eat that, it was a bit too much of a shock when the plate was put in front of me. But not long after that I tried escargot (made the traditional way, cooked in the shell with herb butter) and it was so wonderfully delicious, I decided I'd never let the *idea* of eating an unusual dish stop me from trying it.

I think I can beat you at this game. A beaver's tail and this is no joke. Was in Northern Canada with native Indians, and this is a delicacy for some of them. They first boil the tail, then strip the leather that covers it. Is is awful, it is like little balls of jelly rolling in your mouth!
In the same trip, also tasted the raw content of a moose stomach....different but not much better than the beaver's tail!
Also had raw porcupine, a bit better than the rest....
I lived in the remote woods for 28 months. Had everything from bear to wolf and everything in between.....Also traveled in Asia and had a taste of cockroaches, snakes and all that good stuff....
Oh, and I LOVE octopus cooked in its own ink.......
Believe it or not, I go for pizzas these days !

Can't beat maggots, but I've eaten snake soup in Hong Kong, turtle soup and turtle blood wine in Japan, black bear (and alligator) in D.C. Of course, escargot and oysters are weird too, even if they're common.

Pork Belly
Rattlesnake
Alligator
Chitterlings
Peanut Butter and Bacon Sandwich
Duck Blood Soup
Turtle
Carpaccio Salad (raw steak)
Cheesesteak (not weird to me, but to most people in the US)

My boyfriend gave me a lollipop with a cricket inside of it but I didn't eat it. I'm keeping it for sentimental reasons.
