It depends on what kind of vegetarian we're talking about. Some vegetarians eat chicken eggs. Since caviar is fish egg, eggetarians may consider them to be acceptable food.
Other vegetarians, including but not limited to vegans, do not eat anything that comes from an animal. For them, caviar would not be OK.

While it is eggs, I don't think it's vegetarian at all. To get it they club or stun a pregnant fish and the extract the eggs. So the fish dies.

Caviar is fish eggs.
If you eat chicken, goose, or duck eggs, then fish eggs are just as acceptable for there high protein and vitamin and mineral value.

From what I understand, the fish are killed to get the eggs so I would say they are not vegetarian friendly.
