Being a type 2 diabetic and having my morning glucose reading above 160 consistently it was advised to have a snack before bedtime which would help controlthe glucose, evidently not eating can be as bad as eating the wrong things, any suggestions for a night time snack?

I am a diabetic and I try and have some protein like turkey rollups or some ham and cheese.

I was not aware that eating before bed would do anything but increase morning blood glucose. Since I don't have a problem and am usually in the 95 to 115 range, I think I'll continue with my current regimen. Read this, you may want to look into it:

For type I and type II diabetics (and those who could potentially become diabetic)...

I've found a wonderful book that will help you control your diabetes and minimize or even eliminate the complications. Some folks who became diabetic due to poor diet and obesity are effectively cured by following the advice in this book. I'm a type II (inherited), but it helps all types, especially those who became diabetic due to poor eating habits. It's by an author who has really done his homework, Patrick Quillin, Phd. It's called, "The Diabetes Improvement Program". I have tried his suggestions and found them to be very helpful. I have no complications whatsoever and my blood sugar levels are quite stable. Yes, I still have to take Metformin (Glucophage) daily, but it's the minimum dosage (500mg) and I only have to take it twice a day. I have been off Metformin for as much as a week, but this was with vigorous exercise. Many, what I call, non-hereditary type IIs (those that don't have a close relative who had it) have gotten off medication completely, just with diet, exercise, and supplements. So, in some instances, it most certainly can be 'effectively' cured. Read more about it here:

The book explains what's going on in our system and what to do about it. It's really easy and inexpensive. It's basically diet, supplements and exercise. For example, did you know that cinnamon helps blood sugar absorption? It also controls cholesterol and triglycerides. This is according to the USDA:

For men: Are you suffering from erectile dysfunction? I was. Yes, WAS. Now that everything's under control, I'm able to have nearly normal sex again. I've also put together a little webpage highlighting some of the things I've learned here:

I am writing to tell you what an incredible impact these methods had on my life! I have had type 2 diabetes for 27 years. For me, the worst part of this horrible disease is the severe pain I constantly get in my feet. The pain is so bad that I avoid standing and walking as much as possible. I've got to tell you that within the first month, my feet stopped hurting altogether and I can now walk totally pain free.

Believe it or not, I even danced at my niece's wedding last month, something I have not done in a many years. I've been following the book for six months now and my blood sugar is well within normal range. I feel great!

I recommend you use the Type 2 Diabetes Destroyer to naturally reverse your diabetes.

You need to really monitor you blood glucose. And remember to check your meter and test strips to make sure they are working properly and not giving false readings. If your blood sugars are good (100 - 150) you shouldn't have the problems with frequent urination. As hard as it is, try really hard to get under good control. You will feel sooooo much better. You will sleep better and not be so bothered with little signs that things aren't quite right. If your readings are in the preferred range, you need to check with your doctor. Maybe age / hormones might play a role in your problems. But I'm betting your blood sugars are over 200 a lot of the time which makes you thirsty and drinking anything leads to more urination. Take care of yourself......you are young and have your whole life ahead of you.

I eat something with protein in it (I have Type 1 diabetes) and that seems to work out well for me. Sometimes I will eat a peanut butter sandwich, or a small bowl of cereal or something like that.
