I clean it immediately after the process is over and I've tried using a brush, a pin , soaking it over night, boiling it. Nothing seems to work. The soy milk is now too thin to be of benefit and the machine makes straining noises when it grinds. Can anyone offer a solution for daily cleaning and a good solution for a monthly cleaning?

This isn't that good for your strainer now, but my new soy milk maker comes with a large plastic bin that you fill with water. You put the strainer in that until it can be cleaned. You actually take it right out of the soy milk maker and put it in water, even with the bean residue still in it.

I have a bottle brush. You know the ones with those pokey things. I clean my soymilk maker with that. The plastic pokey things poke through all the fine mesh holes and they help.

Just make sure it's wet until you can wash it and never leave it to dry.

I have a fine mesh strainer from Elisabeth Nielsen s website and it is easy to clean because it s stainless. You can wash it with lemon (the green and small one) to help reduce the residue of the soy milk. Hope it helps!

Try a commercial product called Lestoil. It should be available in most stores. If you can suspend the item, suspend it in a mixture of one part of water to three parts of Lestoil for a minimun of four hours.

Then brush the part until the residue falls off, rinse thoroughly in warm water and re-use

I have had remarable results from that product on most things.

I think a citrus-based cleaner would probably work on your mesh strainer. I have used citrus-based cleaner on various things around the house. I have gotten things clean with this that wouldn't come clean with anything else. Try it with a new hard-bristle toothbrush.
