Vegans live longer. Who told you that? You should do some research.. http://www.annecollins.com/vegetarian-diet-health-benefits.htm

Vegetarians Die Younger

Vegans die earlier and get cancer more often because humans are omnivores (our teeth prove this, we have both canines for tearing flesh and molars for grinding plant matter).

Plants alone do not provide all the nutrients our bodies require, specifically B12 and other proteins only found in meat.

Not sure where you got your information. I've tried looking up how vegan diet affects lifespan and found very contradictory results. Vegan groups claim they get anywhere from 5 to 15 extra years but don't have specific studies to prove it. They rely on research investigating various parts of vegan lifestyle and generally assume that they will have virtually no chance of heart disease, cancer or other diseases. Other researchers found that vegans actually live just about as long as the rest of us but most deaths in the studies were not from the the leading causes of death in the general population (heart, attack, stroke, cancer) and were not thought to be diet related.

In conclusion, I have to say that my personal opinion is that the vegans are being eaten by bears they have befriended and rats they have liberated. Sorry, I know it is unfair but the vegan lifestyle attracts more than its share of nutcases. It's really unfair to those who just want to be kind to their fellow creatures and live a good life.

First quote me your source for that bit of information. Most studies I've seen show that vegetarians as a whole tend to live longer, not necessarily due to their diet but at least in part because they have a higher proportion of non-smokers and non-drinkers.

The founder of veganism, the guy who coined the term, the grand poo-bah just died this year at age 94. He still had all his hair and was mentally sharp until the day he died. He also actively hiked when he was in his late 80's. Which vegans were you referring to? River Phoenix was the only one I know of who died young and that was a drug overdose.

You've got it backwards. Vegans (and vegetarians in general) live longer than their omnivorous peers.
