But then she became vegetarian and started excersizing more. My only problem with becoming Vegetarian is Thanksgiving. Is tofu expensive? Thank you!!!

do it do it do it!!! i've been a vegetarian almost my whole life and it's no problem at all finding other foods to eat on thanksgiving and the like. vegetarians/vegans are also much healthier than people who eat meat. there are many books and websites that can help you out too, such as this one: http://www.pcrm.org/health/veginfo/vegetarian_foods.html.
congratulations for making a great decision and good luck! =)

You can still eat some turkey on TG if you want... it's ok. It's your choice if you want to take a day off of being a vegetarian.

But look... being vegetarian doesn't just mean avoiding meat. You still need to carefully combine your foods to make complete proteins. The human body neeeds 20 amino acids (protein building blocks) to surivive; 11 can be made, but 9 must be eaten. So do some research and carefully plan your meals, and include lots of eggs, cheese, peanut butter, and yes, turkey on TG. :-) Make sure your parents are ok w/ your decision to become vegetarian.

Thats really cool that you want to be a vegetarian...I'm one myself. I understand how you may not want to give up some of those things you mentioned. For Thanksgiving, you might decide not to eat that and try something else instead, or if you really want to you could eat your turkey or whatever you make at your house. Also, tofu is not that expensive. Actually if you go through nutrition stores you can usually find a lot of snacks that are basically like soy things and stuff but taste EXCELLENT. Try them out and see wut u like. Hope I helped! Good luck! Email me anytime at breathtakingbeautiful@yahoo.com =]

Your body needs meat. Protein gives you energy, your still growing... its not healthy for kids of your age to become vegitarian... just go on a diet, meat might not be the source of the problem. Cutting off one thing isn't going to solve the problem, just cut off a little bit from each food group but still eat something from every food group. Its all body type. Some people can starve them selves and won't get any smaller. Dont worry about your weight... you will worry about that when your olddddddd like my mom! But hey? What do I know I'm a proud meat eater! As long as I don't gotta watch the animal be killed I'm ok.

Since you are only 11, I suggest that you get an advice from your parents or adoctor or an expert. You are still growing and need nutrition for your growth. You should be eating everything that is nutritious and healthy. Postpone you decision to become a vegetarian until you are 18 and when you have a good basic knowlodge of nutrition.

No tofu is not expensive.

Why don't you go visit a local helath food store and address your questions. Better yet if you live near a Whole Foods Market, I would suggest go visit their deli/salad bar and ask one of their employees for a free sample of their foods that contains tofu. I work at the Whole Foods Market and we give samples!
I hope this helps. Start slowly becoming a vegetarian!

Well, i think the key word in your question is Excersizing....you can still eat meat, and other fatty, unhealthy foods(that taste so, so good) if you use moderation, the E word, and keep in mind the fact that at 11, you are still changing into the adult that you will be so let yourself develop for a year or two.

and, keep researching the vegetarian diet for new developments for kids your age.

Happy Turkey Day!

Tofu isn't expensive, but be very careful to eat enough protein and get enough calcium. It is very important at your age. Eat lots of legums and beans and nuts.
