Herpes is very painful, especially genital herpes. Are you sure it's not a pimple? If it really bothers you or isn't going away you might want to consider seeing a doctor. Also, if you want, you can go down to your local drug store and try Abreva. It's for cold sores. You can try it and see if it goes away. It won't hurt you if it's not a cold sore.

Herpes sores are tender, itchy, and sore when they are in the genital area. Cold sores (on the mouth) are also sore and itchy, but not ususally tender.
If its on your face, it could just be a swollen sweat gland, a clogged sebaceous gland (oil gland), ingrown hair.

Herpes are usually painful and/or itchy, this could be anything from just a pimp or ingrown hair to herpes.
