What are some food and drink ideas for a teenage birthday party? I'm a great coook, but I'm also on a budget. It will be from 6-10, but there will be no sit-down meal. Basically, finger foods!!! Please help! Thanks

and to those who are great at party planning and have ideas, please check out my 2 most recent questions (other then this one).

THANKS!

Party trays are good:

fruit tray, get a bunch of different fruits, apples, melons, strawberries, grapes. and you could get some yogurt fruit dip they sell in the produce aisle

veggie tray: celery, carrots, cherry tomatoes, cucumber slices, etc. and include a ranch veggie dip

cheese and cracker tray just buy two or three different types of cheese and get saltine and ritz crackers

to the cheese tray you could add summer sausage, ham, turkey or any other kind of cold cut and cheese logs are pretty good too.

You could mix and match these trays ie. use the veggie tray and the cheese with sausage one to make a pretty good meal.

You could set a nacho bar up. put out prepared taco meat, cheese, re-fried beans, jalapenos, sour cream, etc.

for the easiest thing you could always just order pizza!
For drinks there is always cans of coke or you could do punch

Here is a good one:
2 pkgs. Kool Aid (red, green or orange)
46 oz. can pineapple juice
1 liter Mountain Dew or 7-up
2 qt. sherbet (red, green or orange)

Mix Kool Aid according to directions on package. Add pineapple juice and soda. Just before serving add sherbet..

Teen Party Food

Pizzas, Hamburgers, Hot Dogs , Tacos . I other words a lot of finger fast food. You can prepare them more healthy but teens eat a lot and that's the kind of food they like. When my son was 16 I celebrated a pool party. I went to a local college that teaches students to be cooks and I contacted one to help me. I had two grills going all day ( from 11am throgh 11pm) They ate a lot of hamburgers and I prepared 150 chicken kabobs (with no vegetables) in Bar-B-que sauce. I also had some dips and tortillas and a lot of juices. Some of them prepared smoothies. It was fun, and easy to work with.

Looks like you are getting alot of terrific ideas....some that I like and have worked well for me are:
corn chex salty mix (I just tried the chocolate version that just came out.....talk about yummy) so you could have savory as well as sweet.
the meatballs in grape jelly and BBQ sauce dip is always a hit.
you can make english muffin individual pizzas, where you have all the stuff out and ready and each can make their own. (pretty cheap)
Fruit platters (1 watermelon would feed 15 or more)
Mexican dip w/chips (crm cheese, layer of refried beans, salsa, cheese, olives and tomatoes topped with cheese and sour cream dabs)

Do you have a theme? That would help you get started and then the food would fall into place. A girl BD or a guys BD ??? Have fun.
Have each of the kids bring something they like to eat...that would help your budget.

KFC has the best party packs, with alot of different choices and the prices are very reasonable. You can also have some chips & dip, salsa & tortillas, pretzels, popcorn & a few bowls of candy. Throw some paper plates & plasctic forks & spoons and your done. It will go over really well. OH and clean up, eveything comes in its own disposaable containers, so you can just toss it or wrap up leftovers! GOOD LUCK!
