ehem...
Girls and boys are "maturing" earlier and earlier because of bovine growth hormone given to cows. Not because of soy as an earlier post states... It's called "precocious puberty." There is also a growth hormone specific to pork - which seems to lead to early death in pigs. Maybe that's why our teen suicide rate is up.
There are a lot of fanciful scare tactics being put out by the dairy industry right now because soy milk is well on it's way to becoming more popular than cow's milk.
Let's face it. Cow's milk is toxic.
Japan has been using soy as a staple for centuries without any health problems. In fact, the over-all health in Okinawa (where soy IS the end all be all food) far surpasses the over all health of Americans.
The tests being done on soy are being done on animals who, physiologically speaking, are nothing like us. Rendering the tests invalid. See the "Physican's Committee for Responsible Medicine."

I have read that too much soy is not good for kids and men - right, the estrogen levels could get too high and for a man or developing boy, that may not be such a good thing. It really is the best for older women who are losing estrogen. But if you are allergic to milk, the soy you must! Unless you drink goats milk (different protein in there, has less cases of allergies)

Yes u are right.Soy milk does have estrogen in it.I know that woman going through menapause drink it to help them.Their body stops produceing estrogen and by drinking soy or eating tofu it replunishes their body of estrogen. If you are young then 2, 8oz glasses of soy milk should not hurt you as long as your not eating any other soy products. To much soy is not good for anyone.

I've never heard of any dangers of drinking soy milk. I use to have cereal with soy milk for most breakfasts and lunches for about 6 months. I never had any issues.
You really got me thinking now. I had to google it.

I think getting too much of anything can be bad for your health, but here are some sites that discuss the negative side of soy milk:
http://chetday.com/soymilk.htm
http://www.healingdaily.com/detoxification-diet/soy.htm
http://www.mercola.com/article/soy/avoid_soy.htm
And after reading these, I think I am seriously going to cut back on my soy intake as well! Apparently fermented soybeans are okay, but soybeans and soy milk are not. I think some of my hypothyroidism-like symptoms might be b/c of my soy milk consumption. You have to take all arguments with a grain of salt b/c the ones FOR soy are probably influenced by the producers of soy products, and the arguments against it could be influenced by dairy producers etc. but I think the truth must lie somewhere in the middle.

To much of anything can be bad for you, but the quantity of soy milk you are drinking is fine. Studies have shown that soy products and the estrogen link is good thing for women.

Everything in moderation. Soy is supposed to be good for you but who says so? The fda? The same people who allow the use of formaldehyde and carbon monoxide as meat preservative? Or antibiotics in our food for rapid growth and weight gain? And then say oh why are americans so fat? Also their is the estorgen factor. They know this can cause cancer, soy has natural estrogen it. To each his own. I try to avoid it. And I eat only organic food. Even so when I look at the box of macaroni and cheese and soy is listed as an ingredient.

Soy contains Izomes that are almost identical to human estrogen. Ever wonder why girls are starting their periods earlier and earlier these days? Soy is in virtually every prepackage food product. If you're a menopausal woman, a few glasses could be good for hot flashes, etc. But if you are overweight, or pre-menstrual, I would stick to 8 oz/day.
