Pizza ?

Maybe it depends on where you live? I mean maybe what people consider a "national" dish in the northeast may be different than california, or the south, etc.

I guess a National dish is something "american" - i.e. uniquely us - With that in mind - I know they may make these dishes in other countries, but I think we most likely did it first or we do it best..

-Cheeseburgers
-Hot dogs (Coney Island weiners, NY system weiners, Nathans)
-Pizza (NY style, grilled, Chicago Style.. whatever you like - it rocks)
-Fried Chicken
-American Chop Suey :)
-Shepherds Pie
-Apple Pie

I'm sure there are more but those spring to mind..

Since George Bush assumed office, the national dish of the United States seems to be Crow.

Hamburgers?

McDonalds. Served in a lovely ornate brown paper bag, with a side order of full-sugar coke and a calorie-laden, 3% real ice-cream, 97% processed slop sundae for dessert.

'French' fries?(French)
'Hamburg' er?(German)

Partial point for 'supersize' but that is not a dish- it is the common serving portion.

Good tough question!

Pizza- no that's MiddleEastern(bet you thought Italian)

Spaghetti- Chinese(you guessed Italian again)

But then the answer came... as if in revelation...

Baked Macaroni and CHEESE!!!

I'm from Australia, and when I read your question, to be honest, the first thing that came to mind was "The French Fry".
Also we don't have "Peanut Butter and Jelly" so we think that's a good one too!
