Masa in SF ($$$), French Laundry in Napa ($$$$), Chez Panisse in Berkeley ($$$). Reservations a must!

La Folie is another good one, and pricey. I paid $300 for 2 people a few years ago (that includes a bottle of wine). Here's a list of the top French restaurants:

If you want a much less expensive (but still very tasty and French) treat, try savory and sweet crepes at Ti Couz on 16th Street. You can also order citron presse, complete with sugar syrup on the side.

There are so many fine French restaurants in SF you would be hard put to the find just one. Any meal in SF will cost you about $45 to $60 per person without wine.
