I'm diabetic and take fish oil. My doctor highly recommended it since I also have high blood pressure. Omega 3 is good for the heart. She told me it would help lower my cholesterol levels too. I don't have high cholesterol, I just don't have enough of the good cholesterol. The fish oil helps to bring the good numbers where they need to be. It seems to be working....I've been testing good.
I also take calcium and vitamin c. I can't take multi-vitamins, because they all make me sick. I get various symptoms depending on the brand. Since diabetics can't drink much milk, I take the calcium to keep healthy bones. The vitamin c helps the body resist colds and so on. I swear by it.

Diabetes is the cause of many other conditions, one of which is heart problems. Taking omega 3 rich fish oil will help and should be taken. Moreover, my heart doctor recommends taking about 1000 mg or one gram per day, as a preventative. If you are concerned, there is omega 3 in both fish oil and flax seed oil. However, I'm told fish oil is better for heart and flax seed oil is better for your brain.

Omega-3 fatty acids benefit the heart of healthy people, and those at high risk of — or who have — cardiovascular disease.
Diabetic patients are prone to heart attacks without symptoms of chest pain. Hence taking of Omega-3 fishoil is good.

You had better to eat fish if you can get it fresh. Accordingly to resent research, it is a waist of money to buy Omega 3 fish oil, as it has NOT shown any effects at all.
Sorry but that is the truth today - who knows tomorrow?
