You probably still do have HPV even if she said you are fine. HPV can cause pap smears to come back abnormal. Sometimes there is nothing wrong, and sometimes there is pre-cancerous cells or even cancerous cells on the cervix.

I have had two colposcopys done (it's almost the same thing as a biopsy). The first one came back pre-cancerous which eventually turned into cervical cancer. The second one, about a year and 1/2 later, turned out to be nothing. My doctor told me that HPV can do this - make a pap smear come back abnormal when there is nothing wrong.

Chances are you still have the virus, your doctor just didn't find anything wrong with your biopsy (this is a very good thing!). Most people are able to get rid of HPV. The ones who can't, are usually the ones who have a strain that can cause warts or cancer. There are over 100 different kinds of HPV and only a handful of them actually cause cancer or warts.

Stay on top of your health and get your pap smear done every year. It's the best thing a women can do to detect any early signs of developing cervical cancer. Good luck!

If you are diagnosed with HPV and your colposcopy comes back fine, you still have HPV. When abnormal cells come back on your pap, and they tell you that you have HPV what they do is they check those abnormal cells to make sure that they are not cancerous. But you still have HPV. That doesn't go away. You need to have regular pap's done, you may have to have colposcopy's done regularly also to predict early signs of cervical cancer. When the biopsy came back fine, that just means your cells are only abnormal now...not cancerous.

The biopsy test is not conclusive. Now they have a new test specifically for HPV. Ask your gyn to give you that test.

A test is not always 100% perfect...It can produce false negative or false positive results.

It may be wise to repeat the pap every six months for a year or so. In the meant time,...Think positive and be upful

Chin up!

No, you don't have it. Just an abnormal pap smear.
