Chances are he probably won't get it, but, it's always a possibility. Usually herpes is spread by sex and direct skin to skin contact with sores. Even if you were not on an outbreak, it is still possible for someone to get the virus. In fact, according to Valtrex, 70% of people got genital herpes from their partner when they were showing no signs or symptoms of the virus (like sores).

***Also, CHIMP, is just completely wrong! You CAN absolutely get herpes if the person is not on an outbreak. My fiance and I are proof of it! I got genital herpes over 5 years ago from a guy I slept with ONE time, he was not having an outbreak or showing any signs of the virus when I slept with him. My fiance got it from me about 8 months ago and I haven't had an outbreak in almost 2 years! So, yes, you can pass herpes to someone even if you are not currently on an outbreak.

If you did not have the symptoms at the time then he wont get it. It is particularly important to use protection when you have the outbreak of herpes but when there is no symptoms it is very unlikely he will get it. It is caught through sexual intercourse with an infected person who is has the symptoms at that time. I would not suggest however letting him touch you then touch his self if you do have any of the symptoms at all.

Alli.. im not suggesting it is not entirely impossible as there is sometimes symptoms that you don not actually recognise as symptoms of an outbreak . If you read any medical book it clearly tells you the most dangerous time is when an outbreak, or even tingling. I have several friends who have had this condition spanning over several years and never has this been passed on outside the symptoms stage. All i can say is always be careful as Alli states you can never actually be sure if you are presenting at some time without even knowing, i.e a wee bit itchy

Before any sex, you have a moral responsibility to tell the men that you have herpes.

You shouldn't be having sex when you have a virus. You need to stop! Don't be silly....

he has a high chance of getting it but the chances increase if and when you have an outbreak.
