If your corn is NOT frozen, then 5-6 minutes should do it. You can leave it there until you're ready to butter or serve it.

Don't know the time but here's how I cook corn and it comes out perfect everytime (I do use 6 medium corn). Step 1 boil the water 1st,
Step 2 quickly turn down the element, add the corn cover with the lid. Wait 60 seconds turn off the element. Let the heat of the water cook the corn. Wait about 5 minutes then remove the lid. the corn test it with a straw. If corn punctures easily it is cooked! I assumed you were refering to Cob on the Corn! Coincidently that is what I plan to have for lunch today! Hope you grew your corn in your garden!

I stopped cooking my corn on the stove a long time ago because doing it in the microwave is easier, and it taste the same or better. You count 2 minutes for each ear you're cooking. If you're doing more than 2, add a minute for each additional ear. So your corn would take 15 minutes. How easy is that? No heating up the kitchen with boiling water, no extra pots to wash. Just cook and peel. Yum!

It doesn't really matter how much corn you're cooking. How long you boil it depends on how tender and sweet it is to begin with. If the corn is good enough, you really only need to drop it in boiling water long enough to heat it. If it's a little tougher, I usually go about 5 or 6 minutes.

Corn Cooking Time

It depends on how soft you want your corn. I like to eat my corn on the cob raw sometimes!

Some people put some chopped up corn cobs in their "soup of the day" and that really cooks it soft!

I would say ten to fifteen minutes of boil time and then letting sit in the pot until the water cools some.

Have you tried microwaving them?

Be careful not to eat them too hot! Hard to tell sometimes.

Well actually it depends how you like your corn cooked? crisp? tender?
the time you decide actually depends on how you like your corn, crisp is usually 6 minutes when put into a boiling bath of salt water. and tender is 11 minutes. But it actually depends where and when you you purchase the corn, its diffrent at diffrent times of year, and in diffrent states too. then you have to take into account where it was shiped from, and how long did it take it to get to your store for you to purchase? there are alot of diffrent senarios, but the 6 min and the 11 min is about right, you may have to adjust to your liking.
Hope that this answered your question.

I always do three. Some corn is overripe/old and isn't good no matter how you cook it. Good fresh corn is three minutes if it's dropped directly into boiled water.

Don't add sugar - yuk! or salt.
You can it corn on the cob raw, but it's lovely cooked in plain water (even better on the BBQ) then dipped in olive oil or garlic butter, and prinked with black pepper :-)
