I've had SVT for years & just had an ablation for it (so far, so good!). During those years, I was exhausted almost all the time, so I know how your husband feels. Just getting out of bed was a chore, much less trying to do anything else. I experienced shortness of breath, inability to think clearly sometimes, was uncoordinated, chest pain sometimes, and general malaise. This is all mostly due to the fact I wasn't getting enough oxygen when in SVT. Any meds he's been prescribed only exacerbates this problem, and no amount of sleep helped. But, I started taking Co-Enzyme Q10, plus other supplements such as fish oil & magnesium, and my energy levels went up. I also felt more clearheaded. CoQ10 isn't for everyone though, so be sure to discuss with your doctor. Also, as hard as it is to get motivated to do anything when you're so tired, be sure to try to go for daily walks when you're not in SVT (and so long as getting your heart rate up doesn't trigger an episode) as this helps a lot...it gives all those muscles the oxygen they've been needing. It used to take quite awhile to motivate myself to go for a walk, but I always felt better for it, and slept better, afterwards. Good luck!

I had SVT for a long time and never really became tired until after they put me on a beta blocker. Beta blockers are drugs such as propranolol or inderal or anything with a lol on the end of it. Not only does it slow down my heart, but it slows down my entire system and makes me very tired. On the pill bottle, it says dont drive or operate heavy machinery, so you can imagine how powerful this little white pill is. My heart doctor told me to take it at nite, so I am not kicking my rear in the day time. If your hubby is on a beta blocker this could be the reason for his tiredness, or he could be sick somewhere else making him have a fast pulse and feeling tired. I hope your cardiologist helps you out and the good Lord answers prayers. Hope he gets to feeling better.

Your husband is tired because even though the heart is moving fast it's not filling and emptying completely. With such a fast rate there is no time for that. If it's not filling and emptying effectively it's not moving blood through the lungs to get oxygenated well at all. No oxygen = one tired hubby! When you get to the cardiologist he'll have a plan to get the rate/rhythm back to normal and he'll better pretty quickly. There will be a bit of a recovery time so don't expect jumping jacks and back flips right away.

Hope this helps. Jeff the nurse in Nashville.

symptoms include fatigue, chest pain, shortness of breath and sometimes nausea.imagine how you feel after you have just worked out and your pulse is fast.same thing except these sensations will go away as your heart rate returns to normal.
