Hi Barb - whatever brand you use will have a company name. If you have below poverty income and no insurance each and every drug company provides a program to ensure their customers get the drugs they need. Please ignore the first answer about your question, I am sure you are borrowing the net or at a library. Some people can't help themselves. Use the net to find the drug company and e-mail them. If you have a Dr. in the area you are in, they also have more information. Don't wait, please, as this can be life threatening. Good luck!

I know in my area that if you run into a situation like that you can get insulin.. Ask your Dr. call them explain your situation why you cant afford it. They can look into programs for you maybe through the local hospital or they maybe even be able to help you apply for a program that you qualify for to get medical insurance to cover all you needs... Trust me they would rather help pay a little to keep you alive and helping yourself then pay for the long term stays in the hospital do to lack of insulin...

When there look on the left hand side. You'll see "brand name" and "generic name" click on one of those to find your medication. example..."Humalog" is a brand name of an insulin, so you'll look up Humalog. It's there, so you click on the link. From there follow the directions on how to apply. You usually just print out the form and take it to your dr. Or, if you don't have a printer, your dr. can print it out. It's income based. And if you qualify you'll get your medications either free of charge or at a very reduced rate.

Also, check your local Free Clinic as they usually have a diabetic clinic. If you can't find their number then call up the health department or the social service office. They should have the number.

It's again, based on income. If you qualify then you can get medication for around $4 per prescription from them.

Talk to your doctor. I have a sister who sometimes can't afford medication, and her doctor (others I'm sure do too) tries to give her samples or what he has on hand. Just asking may be all you need to do.
