Your ejection fraction is the amount (volume) of blood pumped out of the left ventricle with each beat divided by the amount of blood that was inside the ventricle. It means that the left ventricle of the heart (the one that does all of the pumping of blood to the body) pumps out more than 60% of the blood inside the chamber with each heartbeat. This is generally a sign that the left ventricle is pumping very strongly...it is almost never a sign of anything bad, and is usually a good thing.

It's the amount that is pumped out on each beat.
60% goea out to the body and 40% is staying back in the chamber. the more that is pumed out the better, but you could never get to 100%.
an Idea of what you output is would be to do this math formula.
Take your blood pressure and subtract the bottom number from the top. and then multiply by the heart beats per minute.
120/80 = 40
60 Beats per minute
40 x 60 = 2400 This is a ( Rough estimate) of your cardiac output. 2400 being cc/per minute or close to 21/2 liters per minute.
You being at 60% would be 1440 cc per minute.
So if those were your numbers you could see what you should be pumping and what you are pumping.
Again these are (Rough numbers) that give you a BALL PARK figure. OK...

An ejection fraction of > 60% is considered normal. It is a measurement of how well your left ventricle is pumping blood out to the body. It allows doctors to understand the muscle strength of your heart. Medical management (drug therapies) are aimed at increasing the ejection fraction of your heart by manipulating contributing factors that may interfere with maximum output (ie: heart rate, pre-load and after-load reduction).

Basiclly what it means is- the greater the percentage- the better your heart condition. I would recommend at least 80% or higher.
