Tuesday is my boyfriend's 23rd birthday. We recently got an apartment together, but I am still living 4 hours away until I can get a job closer to him. Friday after work I am heading out there. Oh, we are also expecting our first child.

So needless to say, the apartment is completely empty and I really don't have a lot of money to spend. I want to make this birthday really special.

Any ideas? I want it to be romantic and keep it just me and him. I was thinking along the lines of candles and no alcohol (due to my pregnancy) but I need more...please help!

Order a nice Chinese takeaway with lots of small courses so you can dine on a rug on the floor by candelight and take your time over it. No cooking, no dishes and a leisurely and inexpensive and not too unhealthy evening.

CHOCOLATE CHEESECAKE BROWNIES

1 box chocolate cake mix
1 stick margerine softened
1 egg

Mix together. It will be crumbly and press into a lightly greased
cake pan.

1 box (1 lb.) powdered sugar
1 8 oz. cream cheese softened
3 eggs

Beat thoroughly until smooth. And then pour over the cake mixture.

Bake at 350 for 45 to 55 minutes (or until a toothpick comes out clean)

*** You can top this with EASY CHOCOLATE ICING if you want it really rich.

EASY CHOCOLATE ICING

since there is nothing in your apartment yet...

and the greatest romantic scene ever is in the movie "ghost"...

put on some "unchained melody" and recreate!

or even do some take-out as some previous posts suggested. get some from your favorite restaurant delivered (or pick it) and light some candles. play some music and have a nice, relaxing birthday.

good luck!

Buy a birthday cake scented candle. Saves on the cake.

Find out his favorite dish, make that, set out 1 candle for
you, and him.
Before serving, place a blanket on the floor. Then place
the food, candles, and favorite beverages on blanket .
It wouldn't hurt to have a radio tuned to soft music.
If you know his favorite color, wear something
see-through along with dinner.
The best part : If he wants to know what's for dessert,
tell him, "YOU'RE LOOKING AT IT" !
Sounds so good, i'll be there myself ! "Just Joking"

Basically get on a private jet and fly to Rome and then get back to the apartment and drink water (due to your pregnancy).

I hate to say it --but there's one thing that would make him most happy.

sucks I know.

but that just seems to be the way of the world for whatever reason that I will never, ever comprehend.
