Broccoli, Carrots, Sweet peas, potatoes and baby corn. and yes you put water in the bottom of a boiler with the food on top of a wire net. You the place a lid lightly on top to let the steam out and cook over medium heat. Hope you enjoy. Cook them until tender and take off heat and if your other dishes are not ready place the veg's in a ice bath to stop them cooking and when your meat is almost done steam them for a few seconds and serve with meal.

I like a variety of different veggies steamed....some of the best are - asparagus, squash, zucchini, carrots, bell peppers, onions...
The best way to steam veggies on the stove is to use a steamer pan, usually a pot that has a colander that fits in and a lid to cover. Fill the bottom with water, insert the colander, add veggies, cover and steam on med-hi heat for about 5 minutes (depending on the type of veggie and the tenderness you desire).

Buy an inexpensive steamer gadget that adjusts to the different size pots you might have, or use a metal sieve. If you just lay the veggies in the water they just boil and can get over-cooked
Corn on the cob and asparagus are two of my favorites.
Good Luck and happy dining

well you need to start with a pot and fill it 1/3 up With water but it depends on your steamer!! Then bring it to the boil and leave boiling!! place on your steamer add your vegetables and then your lid!! To check if vegetables are cooked open your lid (but remember to be careful as the steam can burn badly) away from your self and Peirce with a knife.as to the questions what vegetables are good for steaming well it all depends on what vegetables you like!! I like to steam Broccoli Carrots Cauliflower and snow peas!! But its all up to your taste!!

Creamy Vegetable Pie --------------------------------------... SERVES 4-6 The joy of this pie is that you can make it across the seasons, choosing your favourite vegetables. Spring, Summer or Winter it makes a mouthwatering meal. Steam all the vegetables separately until they are tender or slightly crisp. 2. Leave to cool, reserving cooking liquids, then chop if necessary into bite-size pieces. 3. Thin out the bechamel with about ¼pint / 150ml of the reserved liquids. 4. Stir in the vegetables and herbs and pour into a large ovenproof dish. 5. Roll out the pastry to a round or other shape that is 1 inch (2.5cm) larger than the diameter of the dish. With the trimmings make a long thin strip of pastry. You need a steamer net that raises the vegetables above the water. Bring water to a boil and turn the heat down to a simmer.
You can stream any vegetable that way.

most of the vegetables are good steamed. except lady's finger, brinjal. when u cook in the pressure cooker, keep water in the cooker. put the vegetables (cut or whole ) in a vessel in the cooker & steam it if u put little salt to the veg. while steaming it tastes better.

Really any vegetables can be steamed - greens don't take that long about 15 mins but root veggies like potatoes take longer.
