Do u wonder if they eat the left over food or throw it away. One reason I ask that is because it's always family members working in one resturant, and the pepole who eat their don't always eat the food they have on they plate, but they will go back and get another plate of food.

I think, in a foreign restaurant, they would throw it away some
of the left over food from the buffet which has become bad or
sour and keep the rest of the good left over food in the freezer.
This is quite normal for most restaurants, because certain
left over foods are still fresh and tasty. Eventually, the kitchen
staff will eat it as their daily food.

The leftover food on your plate goes in the buspan and then to the garbage. Why on earth would they want to eat leftovers on someone's plate when there is plenty of good food on the buffet to choose from. No one in their right mind would eat food left on someone's plate. Unless they want hepatitis or any of the other things you could get.

By law, they have to throw it out in the garbage. The people that work there can't even take it home or it cannot be donated to the poor.I ask this question
almost everywhere that we go and that is the answer that I am told. The government are afraid people might get food poisoning ,if the food wasn't handled correctly.Americans waste alot of food.

A lot of restaurants use leftover foods in their buffet,I know my son has worked at some. If the buffet starts on Friday it's fresh after that skip it, foreign or not!

Judging that the very few places I have been to that fit this description, the food always seems cold on the buffet, but it probably turns into the following day "Special Lunch Item".

Their are guidelines dictated by the health dept. One is after the food passes from my hand to yours, it cannot be re-served to another customer (even if you handed it right back to me). Thus, any such leftovers must be treated as garbage.
As far as food left in the steam table, after service? We do allow our employees to have a meal - or take some home (if they like). Anything left over after that is treated as garbage.
Yes, we do waste a lot of food but, we must have (and enforce) the health code to ensure that what we serve is fresh and sanitary.

Good question....you never know with a buffet style...I guess that's the risk we take if we go there. I don't think they should do that, but you never know how old the food is....I always wait to get more food when they are bringing out a new pan...I hope it's fresh.

I know of a Chinese place that got busted reserving food many many years ago. Same place was also robbed by the Chinese Mafia right at the cops shift change so there were twice as many cops on duty at the time.
