COPD: chronic obstructive Pulmonary disorder (or something like that... AKA Emphasema)

Smoking or being around someone who smokes will worsen it.

I have COPD. I am on oxygen and other meds for it.
The weather changing is bad on me. I cannot go outside if it is over 80 degrees and humid. Severe cold in the winter is bad too.
Stress is one of my top five things that will worsen it.

I also cannot be around dander or dog/cat fur. This disease is a mess. I am not working any more. I am only 60 and on long term disability with my company that I worked for for 25 years.
I have given myself six months to deal with this and get on with whatever life I am going to have. Six months is almost up and I guess I will have to extend it to a year!!! Ha Ha

Everyone's triggers and what they can tolerate seems to be different with each person. It probably depends on the extent of the damage to the lungs. That would make sense to me..........

DON'T SMOKE....IF YOU DO QUIT. STAY AWAY FROM SECOND HAND SMOKE. MAINTAIN A CLEAN HOUSE. IT HAS TO BE ALMOST DUST FREE. SO MANY THINGS TO DO.........

I have COPD and this is what a few doctors have told me. Smoking makes it worse also pollution, allergies, and mold and mildew play a big part. I have also read that only 20% of COPD sufferers smoke. hope this helps you out alot and you are feeling better.

COPD is progressive, no matter what it will always worsen. It never gets better. Smoking will cause it to progress faster.

Smoking , respiratory infections , not taking medications properly, not getting exercise , increased weight gain are contributor's to this . I have it myself very severely and have for quite some time now. Avoiding those with colds is important to the extent you can avoid that. Exercise is key in maintaining your ability to function at the best level you can . Stopping the smoking is the most difficult and most helpful thing you can do.

Smoking or second hand smoke, enviromental factors ( job, area pollution), and weight gain can make breathing harder.
