My personal record is 100% safe. I'm married and my husband and I use condoms because I can't use the pill. We have one daughter that we planned and through the four years of marriage we have had no accidents. I just went and checked on the box and the box didn't give a percentage but I always thought it was around 98%.

Condoms are not 100% safe in the sense that a sperm needs just a minute spore to pass through and get to the egg (ovum).
A short incident: One of my friends used two condoms while having sex with his wife since he thought that it woudl be much safer. In the act of love making, there was a small and minute hole made and in the process his wife was pregnant. So, condom is also not so safe

There's still a chance of spreading some STD's even if you use a condom. From what I remember from Human Sexual Behavior class, it's mostly the ones that involve sores and things that are in the genital area and not covered by the condom.
As far as pregnancy goes, you should be fine as long as it doesn't break or slip off--and that doesn't happen much at all when you use them correctly.

I think the box says 98% safe with preventing pregnancy. Depends on brand and if it has spermicide. I would use the pill or the patch with condoms that way your pretty much covered.

Not very safe if she tries to put it on with her mouth. I kid you not, my wife started choking when it came that time, I didn't realize she had decided to be smooth and funny about it. After the heimlich, she spat a trojan out and we literally laughed our butts off. How many people can tell that story from their 15th anniversary night?

Out of those options, I'd pick 89%. Unless they break. Then 0%.

Don't buy cheap, for starters. I must have used well over 600 condoms during my dalliances, and not once have I been stuck with a broken/torn one, and that includes anal sex as well.

i believe the actual number is 96% reliable. but you always have to remember that the HIV virus is small enough to pass through the tiniest holes in the condom(it is the smallest STD virus)
