Actually I have never heard of infants being infected by the mother if she has HPV. I've read a lot about it and have talked to other mothers with HPV and I've never read of it being passed on to the child through birth. Herpes, yes, but not HPV.

If you and your partner were both virgins when you slept together then chances are you do not have HPV. The most common way of contracting HPV is sex and if you were both virgins, chances are neither of you had it. You can get it others ways though, like direct skin to skin contact with someone who has warts. Some people get it from rubbing genital areas together, or even shaking hands with someone who has warts on their hands. (HPV causes all kinds of warts including hand and feet warts).

If you are really concerned, get tested. There currently is no test for men, so he won't be able to get tested, but you will be able to. It's actually a VERY good idea now that you have become sexually active to go and get a pap smear done every single year. Pap smears are the best thing for women to detect early signs of cervical cancer (caused by HPV) which kills 4,000 women a year! I got cervical cancer from my HPV when I was just 17 years old! So, it's important to get tested, and to get a pap smear. Good luck!

I also have never heard of a baby being born with HPV and I also know that most young people have a chance of even ridding their bodies of HPV. I was recently diagnosed and have researched alot and up until a certain age mid to late 20's you can sometimes rid yourself of HPV. I also know that 80% or more of the population has HPV...virgin or not. Unknown to most people, HPV is spread by skin to skin contact, therefore condoms don't protect you from it and you don't only get it from sexual contact. You may have a wart on your hand, plantar wart on your foot, etc...and they may be HPV. HPV has many forms which is why it is becoming such an epidemic and so many people have it. The only way to be sure is for women to request an HPV test during there pap smears, most doctors do not test for this until a woman has an abnormal pap smear result. In this case abstinence does not prevent this STD.

Well, one of your Moms has HPV, it's possible that she passed it on, but if you don't know this to be the case, I wouldn't worry. Most sexually active people have HPV, anyway, so I'm not sure how long you're going to be able to go without exposing yourself to it. Most strains are not dangerous. If the person you mention here will be your lifelong partner, congratulations: you will most likely be HPV-free for life. (I assume your partner has never had genital-to-genital or genital-to-anal skin contact of any kind; this is how HPV is passed. It doesn't matter if there is penetration or not; rubbing is enough. Oral sex rarely causes HPV.)

Well, you can have hpv-1 if you are a virgin. There is a new vaccine right out of the oven that prevents hpv. It was developed mainly due to cervical cancer concerns and it will be administered to teenagers.

Yes. Lets say one of the virgins has a wart on her hand, and touches the guys penis, HPV can pass that way and result with genital warts. The vaccine prevents 2 of the most dangerous strains of HPV that cause cancer. So I would definitely recommend the vaccine.

Yes, you should get tested, especially if you are not sure that he was a virgin. Always be careful and use a condom if you are having sex. He should get tested too, just to make sure. If you are uncomfortable talking about getting tested with him, then you probably don't need to be having sex anyway.

You do not know if your partner was a virgin, only he knows that. You should have been using a condom, but if you are worried at all, get tested!!!! Why wonder? You should know for sure!

wow... you worry too much... you can get it if your partner plays with an infected partner.. it doesnt mean that he was a virgin on your first time... he cannot have sex with other women... but if you are both in a monogamous relationship... then you both are safe.. even if you had oral sex...
