Condoms are a good and effective way to prevent most diseases including HIV. But it is not the only condom that will protect you, but also being cautious. When making love you are in direct contact with an extensive body surface, that could be infected with other std's. For example, licking someones private parts (specially if there are blisters that pass out as pimples or minor rashes) you can easily catch herpes or hpv. As of HIV the virus needs a more direct fluid contact, as it is very weak and dies upon exposure to the air. Have in mind that HIV virions are more concentrated in seminal fluids, so it is not advisable to ingest those. Since HIV is no more than a chronic illness it is impossible to know if someone is infected so you must protect yourself by using condoms, not doing very rough sex were any membrane could be broken, and using lubrication when needed. If you follow these, you should be fine.

I have had sex with an HIV infected person with a Condom and d condom burst, 3 years later went for a compulsory hiv test when I got a job and I tested negative. So its not 100% safe, you need to be slow and steady with enough lubricant to avoid breakage.

Condoms are not 100% effective against any STD, the only sure way is abstinence. However, if you are planning to have sex, you and your partner should get tested before having intercourse. If you cant talk to them about this, then you don't need to be having sex. If you don't know if you have something you will just spread it to others.

I am sorry for what happened to you guys. That is sad these days. Yes you can still get it using condoms. They can break, rip, etc... Also the HIV virus is very small so it can get through the perferations in the condom.

Your only help is a condom but you know that condoms are not 100% effective. Stick to hand therapy.
