All fruits contain sugar. This kind of sugar is alright for the diabetic in moderation though. It's natural and much easier for the body to breakdown and use. You should avoid fruit drinks/juices though. These usually have extra sugar added to them.

OK here is the deal you must need a dietitian who can teach you what and when to eat to keep your sugar in con troll. All fruit has natural sugar there are no sugar free fruits. My son has been type 1 since he was 8 months old and we have learned over the past 12 years that different foods effect his sugar differently recently pizza started making his numbers high when before they did nothing. My son goes sky high with apple juice which has a 41 on the glycemic index yet he eats watermelon which is a 72 and he is fine. The glacemic index shows which foods turn into sugar quicker in your body higher number quicker but there are always exceptions. Grapefruit is a 25 and cherries are a 22 and pear is 37 so I would recommend them until you go to a dietitian and get a real diet based on you.

All fruits contain fructose; some more than others. Use your diabetic Exchange diet to see which ones will be best for your particular diet. Apples, grapes, oranges are good. A banana: 1/2 is considered a whole fruit serving. Most Exchanges recommend you do not go overboard on the fruit. So you need some education on the Exchange diet. Anything you carbs you eat eventually turn to glucose in your body and you will be limited to carbs and fruits. Ask your doctor for a copy of the Exchange Diet if you can't find on online. Good luck.

ALL fruits contain sugar. That's how the fruits allow the seeds they carry to grow and survive. Some fruits contain less sugars, but it would be your best bet to check with your doctor.

Fruit sugar are called fructose and does not actually directly contribute to the development and progress of diabetes since it is highly digestible. The type of sugar that increases in diabetes is glucose which can be derived from ordinary table sugars and those which are used in breads and food rich in carbohydrtaes.

All fruits are basically CARBS which equal sugar. Sugar makes blood sugar go up. Also, they are simple sugars. I count carbs and strawberries are one of the lowest (15 grams per 1/4 cup!! Bananas are high in carbs. One banana is like eating two slices of bread (30 grams). One small apple has 20 grams of sugar, but an apple is high in fiber. Fiber keeps your blood sugar steady. Oranges are high in carbs. Pineapple is somewhat low and good for the gastrointestional tract like heartburn. So I'd have to say: strawberries, pineapple, and apples are the best choices, me personally.
