First tell me this, How high was the blood glucose test, and how long after eating was the blood glucose test taken.
I ask that because the scale for a diagnosis of diabetes when determined from a fasting blood glucose reading is:
Under 110= diabetes free
111-130=borderline diabetes
131 and up is confirmed diabetes.
Other than that the main symptoms of diabetes are
Polyuria, or frequent urination
Polydipsia, or increased thirst
Eye problems
Slow wound healing
and Tingling or prickly sensation in the extremities.
If you have more than two of these and at least two of the first three symptoms then you most likely have diabetes.

Diabetes is a ridiculously serious autoimmune disorder. While there are a lot of things that might make a glucose test high, it's the prolonged issue that's more of a problem. ...And ..how high? ...I believe the 'ideal' range (at least in an insulin-taking diabetic) is from 110 up to a max of 130 ..at which point they should certainly take some action.
Unfortunately, both ends of the spectrum are not good for you..but since I assume that if you are indeed getting signs of type I diabetes and don't have insulin, you won't much need to worry about your blood glucose crashing.
..For one, call the doctor again if you think they don't know for certain that you suspect diabetes. And carry a card on you saying that you might be diabetic, lest you can't communicate for yourself and emergency workers don't know what might be wrong.
..lastly, ..perhaps kind of futile, but ...try to avoid carbohydrates of any sort as much as possible. Starches, carbs, and sugars.. all amount to the same thing - they will raise your blood glucose level. ..So, ..no breads, no soda, no rice, no grains, no potatoes, ...and no fruit juice of any kind, including fresh fruits, and especially not faker drinks (like.. say, sunny delight) as those will skyrocket your blood sugar.
..I just wanted to ..communicate all that; the previous answers posted that I'd seen are all correct, to my knowledge. ..unfortunately, diabetes is not a very ..lenient condition. If something goes wrong, it tends to go very, very wrong, very quickly.
hope it'll be good news, when you hear from the doctor =(
take care-

Diabetes Symptoms
Signs and symptoms of diabetes may include one or more of the following:
* Intense hunger (even after eating)
* Unusual thirst/dry mouth
* Frequent urination
* Dry, itchy skin
* Itching of skin in groinal or vaginal region
* Unusual weight loss
* Recent weight gain
* Extreme fatigue
* Headache
* Rapid breathing
* Irritability, depression, mood swings
* Blurred vision/sudden vision changes
* High blood pressure
* Frequent/recurring infections such as skin, yeast, and urinary tract infections
* Slow healing cuts/bruises
* Numbness or tingling in hands and feet
* Loss of consciousness (this is rare, but can occur)
* Skin changes in the neck, armpit and groin area (velvety dark skin called acanthosis nigricans)
If you have these symptoms, it is important that you see your health care professional as soon as possible. Symptoms of Type 1 diabetes can be intense and severe, and often occur suddenly. But please keep in mind that many people who have Type II Diabetes may display no symptoms, or the symptoms may develop very gradually.. A number of people have reported a reduction in these symptoms by following the plan in The Diabetes Improvement Program.

Frequent urination
Excessive thirst
Extreme hunger
Unusual weight loss
Increased fatigue
Irritability
Blurry vision
It could also be metabolic syndrome or "Syndrome X" which is essentially pre-diabetic. If so, then most likely YOU CAN TURN IT AROUND if you are willing to change diet and lifestyle habits.

Frequent urination, excessive thirst, dizziness, frequent yeast infections.
Most people with type 2 diabetes don't have any symptoms so if you think you may have it go to your doctor and they can test you for it.

The best test is a Hemoglobin A1c (HgbA1c). It will tell if your sugars are consistently high over time and if you need diabetic treatment
