All animals suffer for the pleasure of meat eaters. Not just pigs. I don't know what you are referring to.
I am a vegetarian as I know we don't need meat to survive.

As this week's episode of Criminal Minds showed pigs are slaughtered by a quick sharp blow to the brain, from a spring loaded gun, which kills them instantaneously. Cattle are killed the same way.

The less you know about how your food is prepared is probably a good thing. Upton Sinclair exposed the bad practices of the meat packing industry almost 100 years ago. All parts of the cow, heads, tail, anything with meat on it, are used to make hot dogs and hamburger. The meat packers are allowed to also use the meat even if rat wastes have contaminated it or if a rat falls into the vat. The meat packing industry hasn’t changed much since then. The industry may be cleaner, but they still have a rat and insect problem. Reading that book completely turned me off of hot dogs.

Is it any wonder that a lot of people turn vegetarian?

I am an omnivore, and I like the taste of meat. I know that animals have to be killed to put it onto my table, and I try not to think a lot about it. However, man has been raising and killing animals for food for 1000s of years, and long before that he was hunting and killing animals. It is, slightly, more humane to kill an animal instantaneously, but you are still killing it. I accept that and I can live with it; it is part of our world. If I want to eat meat then an animal must die for it. Still I have made the choice to continue eating meat, if I want meat the animal has to be killed somehow, and I surely don’t want to go out hunting for my dinner. To all lot of people this is obscene, so they become vegetarians or even vegians. Please don’t hate me for my taste for meat.

I also accept other forms of murder that society causes; like abortion, the death penalty, the destruction of an animal’s habitat and mankind generally pushing the animal world aside for our benefit. Eating meat is another form of this. At least I know what is going on and I don’t delude myself about it. It is just one of the prices I am willing to pay for civilization and my life style.

Where does it end? Vegetarians don’t eat animals, but they can eat honey, cheese and milk which are products of animals, some won’t eat anything that comes from an animal that has a face (does a bee have a face?); vegians are even stricter. But, both are willing to live in a house that is on land that was once the home of an animal. They have their home at the price of the life of some animals. They are willing to drive a car, which is causing pollution that is harming the entire planet. They don’t mind using a bicycle that uses rubber from a rubber plantation that displaces even more animals in the rain forest (where they are the densest), and they don’t mind eating crops grown in land, which was cleared and displaced a lot of animals. Let’s be realistic the animals weren’t just displaced, they were killed. There are fewer of them, because they have fewer places to live. By eating fruits and vegetables vegians are encouraging farmers to clear off more land so they can plant crops. This land clearing destroys dwindling habitats and that increases more competition in nature for the reduced space, which results in the death of more animals. The farmer’s pesticides are polluting the environment, and we have no idea what the fertilizer is doing.

So what is a good vegian going to do? They can’t stop living and they can’t entirely reduce their impact on Earth. The best any responsible person can do is to make that impact as small as possible, to hold themselves responsible for the impact they do have, and to make choices that improve the general condition. That’s what I try to do and I am willing to accept some compromises and make some sacrifices. By eating meat I am not evil, I want my animals to be killed in the easiest way for them, and I would prefer it if those animals had an enjoyable life before they were killed. But, I can’t stop all the animal killing in the world unless I take myself out of it.

For food. For ex. Where there are farms they raise crops and chicken and cattle and pigs and things like that. But if u think about it-when we die our bodys eventally go into the grass and dirt. And like the cows eat the dirt and grass. It's like a circle of life thing. Even some animals eat other animals...
