With long term use ...Cardiotoxicity (manifested as cardiomyopathy, acute myocardial infarction/necrosis, heart failure, or arrhythmia) after the recreational (mis)use of amphetamine and its synthetic derivatives has been documented but is rather rare. Amphetamine-related cardiac fatalities are even more rare."
W. Jacobs and colleagues at University Hospital of Antwerp in Edegem wrote, "We present 6 cases of young persons who died unexpectedly after the chronic abuse of amphetamines. Death was not attributed to a lethal intoxication but to an acute myocardial necrosis, a right ventricle rupture, a cardiomyopathy, or an arrhythmia

I will pray for you guys. I will tell you that speed will tear your body up badly. There are a lot of things it can do to your heart. I think you need to consult a doctor, it is a serious issue. Speed people do now days can eat a hole in your brain, it looks like the symptoms of Alzheimer Disease. You can probably find it on the net. I hope you resolve this issue soon. Like I said you really need to speak to professional quickly. If someone in your family is doing meth, you have got to take action quickly, the addiction grows stronger by the hour, literally. Best of luck to you.-Julia

speed can absolutely cause enlargement of the heart as well as other heart related problems. it can also cause imbalances in electrolytes (sodium) because alot of the time people who use drugs ignore their nutritional status and are more obsessed with using the drug than eating. speed can also cause the liver to work improperly because it is overworking to rid the body of the toxins (that are ingested with the drug). your doctor can run a blood test to check for presence of speed in the blood so if you are concerned about a speed problem, then you should have your doctor check with a blood test for verification.

Yes it can this drug is always cut with numerous toxic additives which stay in the system and adhere to the blood vessels. The drug itself has heat to it and no doubt does damage to the whole body. I will pray for this person take care ~A~

I beg to differ with toe-poe-gee: I am not sure if you're a physician; you site impressively scientific sources but how can this be? All amphetamine based drugs (illegal or otherwise) produce tremendous cardiac strain and obvious hepatic damage.

YES! Speed and cause all of the above health problems.
If one is an IV user also add heart valve infections.
Sadly I learned this from experience.I have heart and liver damage.
Happily I have been clean for 20 years!
Praise God!!
If you ask about a friend or loved one, please encourage them to STOP NOW! GET HELP!
If it is you, please get help! You are a valuble person and dear to God, and your family.Be dear to yourself.
God Bless,
Sue C
