What on Earth do you have to gain by doing so? What a person puts in his or her body is his or her business. I wouldn't try to convince you to eat something you didn't want and I'd expect the same level of respect from you.

I would imagine this person has strong reasons for not eating meat. Most vegetarians don't stop eating meat b/c they don't like the taste. It's b/c they feel morally offended at the thought of animals being used for consumption. I'm not sure why you feel so strongly that they should eat it if that's the choice they've made. Are you going to try to convince an orthodox Rabbi to eat lobster? Why would you want to change someone's personal belief system? What a person eats or doesn't eat shouldn't be any of your business really. If the person you're talking about just isn't eating properly and is getting sick, you could encourage healthier eating and taking vitamins..... but as it stands, they are most likely healthier than you are. There are monks in China who hardly eat anything but rice and are considered some of the most healthy ppl in the world.

That's none of your business. That's like trying to make a Muslim or Orthodox Jew eat pork. If you're worried about your friend getting enough protein, beans and nuts are good choices. I don't see myself giving up meat any time soon but I'm not gonna push my tastes on someone else.

And just b/c you're a vegetarian doesn't mean you're healthier. If u don't eat meat but eat a lot of fries, you're probably gonna be fat. Vegetarians who eat right are the ones who are healthier than average.

Give them an ultimatum: Eat meat now or forget about being your friend. You won't have to convince them and they will have an easy way out of your "friendship". Being vegetarian takes a real individual, someone with fortitude who has values they place above any superficial pleasure they would receive from eating meat.

Food choices are personal. However intimate the other person is, if he/she has been living as a vegetarian since a long period of time, it will cause a lot of hurt for them if you are compelling them to eat non-veg. Remember that it is far more than your distress about the other person not being eating non-veg. Also, it can also be painful for them if you are forcing them to cook non-veg food.

It may also end up that the other person agrees to you somehow..but if it is not with 100% happiness, what is the meaning? Who gains what? What for?

So, live and let live!
Good luck in life.

Why do you want to? Everyone has a choice about what to eat and if a person chooses to be a vegitarian, why not let them be? Do you feel so guilty for killing animals that you can't stand it when someone chooses not too? Would it really relieve your conscience if that person consumed meat?

You don't. If they want to they will, and if they don't they won't. forcing someone to do something against their will only increases their resolve. Personally, I haven't eaten any meat in nearly 20 years and I don't miss it. I'm thinner, I have better blood pressure and a lower risk for cancer. Why would I want to be like the average american. Do you? Doesn't that terrify you to no end? Not being like middle-america. That's what keeps me vegan.

Being a vegetarian is good for you. People may just think my view is biased but in the long run vegetarians will live longer and healthier lives. And anyways, convincing a veggie to eat meat is impossible if they're really serious about it.

you agree to go vegetarian for the rest of your life along with six of your closest, shortest friends, thereby offseting the damage done by meat heavy diets.
Your veg friend will only have to sample a 2 gram morsel of meat, once. ever. C'mon, try it.
