Cetrizine is the generic name for Zyrtec which is a medication used for the relief of allergic symptoms. If the doctor prescribed it he has calculated the dose based on age and weight and it is safe to take. Just follow the directions.

doesn't sound too good, because his still a baby his immune system wouldn't have gotten used to everything, your best going to a doctor in case something develops. but it could be at that point where his starting to get his two central bottom & Two central top teeth. which is most painful when teething which could be causing all the crying. if it is teething simple ways to help soothe the pain is by massaging the gums with your finger, also letting him suck on cold and wet washcloths help (just put the cloths in the freezer for a couple of hours) or even a frozen bagel. but don't resort to medicine since some parents can find it hard to tell if their baby is teething until the tooth is there. but if you doubt that this is the case i would go see a doctor.

I have to ask... as I couldn't tell by your particular word choice. ..I understand that it was prescribed by a doctor... was it prescribed for you or the baby?

In general, if a baby has a runny nose, ....don't worry; it happens. If it makes you feel better to take him to a pediatrician, ..go for it. If the pediatrician prescribes medicine for the baby, ..follow the directions. If the pediatrician decides the baby's just got the sniffles, ...let it runs its course; your baby's immune system will be that much stronger

but, ..yeah, ..i agree with the person who researched the manufacturer of zyrtec's website.

all the best

If runny nose is due to allergy, it will help. Ceterizine can be prescribed to babies of age 6 months and above. At 6 months, the dose is 2.5 ml. (half a medicinal teaspoon) once a day. Keep his nose clean, using normal saline drops and cotton. Steam inhalation is also helpful. Give him more fluids to drink.

It seems far wiser to follow the doctor's advice than that of some unknown person in the Internet.
