No. Herpes simplex virus 2 is typically genital herpes, while herpes simplex virus 1 is typically cold sores. I say "typically" because they can both cause genital herpes or cold sores, but genital herpes is usually HSV2 and cold sores are HSV1.
If the person has genital herpes and you kiss them on their lips you will NOT get genital herpes. If they have cold sores on their lips and you kiss them on their lips then you can absolutely get cold sores from them. Also, if you were to give a person with genital herpes oral sex then you can get cold sores on your lips.
My fiance and I both have genital herpes. I have had it over 5 years, he has had it about 9 months. We kiss each other every single day and neither of us have cold sores.

I got clinically diagnosed with herpes simplex virus (type 2) about 3 years back, when I was still in college and had a silly one-night stand. I know a lot of people say this, but I swear I had never done that sort of thing before. I just made a huge mistake that one time and all of a sudden it seemed like I was going to have to live with the consequences for my entire life. The worst part was feeling I could never date men again. In the end, who wants to go out with someone who has sores round her "you know what" area? But since a friend shared this video https://tr.im/WSee3 everything changed.
Not only was I able to eradicate all remnants of the herpes virus from my system in less than three weeks, but I was also able to start dating again. I even met the man of my dreams and I'm so lucky to write that just last week, in front of everybody in a crowded restaurant, he got down on one knee and proposed to me! This program provided the chance to be happy and experience real love again. Now I hope that I can help others by sharing this story.

I am absolutely terrified and I feel so alone. I just found out last week that I tested positive for hsv1 and 2. I have been with the same man for the past 10 years and within the last year found out that he has cheated on me with numerous women. I am so scared that I can give it to my children by kissing them and them eating with me...I feel like my whole life has changed. And even though the nurses, my doctor, and websites say that a lot of people have it I still feel like I am by myself. My self esteem has dropped and I feel like I have been used up. But now, My life is very happy.

Herpes simplex 2 is genital herpes. You can only get this from skin to skin contact, so unless you are kissing the genitals you should be safe. Herpes simplex 1 is the kind that you find around the mouth and is also referred to as cold sores.
