Any good places in Derby / Castleford?

My husband is going home for Christmas, I am going with him and we are traveling up to his childhood spot (Castleford) to see friends. Any good places to eat out up there? And what can you suggest for a good night out?

Derby os a good city to go out in- I go with my friend to places like the weatherspoons (which I think is the old bank) and blue note- a funny club- but thats about it- hope that helps
