if your post dinner blood sugar is consistently over 200, then you and your doctor need to figure out why. maybe you need more medication or insulin after dinner. maybe you could go for a 30 minute walk. my blood sugar is perfect all week except for saturday morning at which it is 216. i figured out that i stay up late, and sleep in late, thus not taking my meds on time and not eating on time messing up my regimen. so, i get up at the same time, take my meds, eat, then go back to bed if i like. it has made a lot of difference. it's okay for your blood sugar to be high on occasion, but every day is not good. just a minor change in your routine could make all of the difference. go through your logs with your doctor; maybe all that is needed is just a minor adjustment.

The question I would ask is when did you check your blood glucose level. If you tested about 2 hours or more after you ate your meal then you have diabetes. Period.
If you eat any meal and got a reading greater than 140, you're diabetic.
The follow-on reading is normal because your body had time to recover from your overdose of sugar from whatever you ate.
Normal blood sugar in "normal" people is never over 140. Most of the time they are about 85-90.
Sorry, but, you've joined our club.

the fasting is good, but how high is less than 200. it shouldn't be over 140 ever. you should actually strive for 120 is what my doc said, and he is a very strict diabetes doctor and is very educated in the subject. anyway, i hope you get yours into check, i'm having the same problem. good luck
btw, looking at your last questions i can share a little more, a normal persons sugar levels will stay less than 120 after meals, like my hubbys is only 98 after a full meal and ice cream. your fasting should be less than 100 and after meal less than 140, but strive for less than 120. you prolly do have symptoms but dont' recognize them as diabetes related. do your feet fall asleep a lot? are you more sluggish sometimes than you should be? do you ever feel light headed, jittery? do your tastebuds swell, or do you have a lot of mouth sores? do you have to pee a lot? are you thirsty a lot? these are just a few of the symptoms. good luck and i hope you keep your self in check before it gets really bad

are you on insulin or pills to reduce blood sugar?my doctor has me on insulin 4 times a day and blood sugar readings faxed in every Monday morning; changes or same doses are called back to me same day. a deviation from<140 to >200 would cause no alarm from my doctor.a post meal reading for me is often over 200. but my over all 3 month average(a1c1) runs from 6.3 to 6.9 which my doctor feel is very good. A walk after a meal can often bring blood sugar readings down. A walk before meal,or bed can bring your blood sugar too low;so bring crackers, juice, carbs.,just in case.

yes, i think so since it is after dinner. It depends on what you eat that make blood sugar high. Whats important is you are having 98 FBS. Though, dont make it a habbit that you always get your blood sugar that high. Pls maintain ur blood sugar.

I think your blood sugar is supposed to be under 160 an hour after dinner. Otherwise, your numbers are OK.
