Because you should buy locally. Most things that you seem to think are so bad are actually caused by the remote control way we live, buying meat through corporations instead of from a local farmer. Not all animals are raised cruelly. Just the ones who never see their consumers.
Meat animals are an important way to tend the land properly. Nature evolved with a diversity of life under, on and above the land. If you take away the animals as part of that system, then you have to exploit humans to harvest the grasses and build compost, or use machines and oil to do it.
Put down the joint and come back to reality. We are animals, too. Mostly meat. We are predatory animals. You can live on vegetables if you sit on your *** all day long, but some of us have to work hard and need the protein and energy from fats and meats in order to perform our jobs. You might even be active and eat only vegetables and fruits, good for you. But you'll go insane after a while, if you aren't already.

You know not all animals die, some live-because if all of them died at once-we would have no meat period. And we don't eat all animals either. U need protein for like iron and some vitamin b too. And some people are picky, like me-I puke when I get all that citrus stuff. To be honest, I only eat a few fruits! But I do eat vegetables. Also I LOVE meat! :-)
Also, I doubt half of us even care if u don't like woman that eat meat! You know how many other man there are are out there? Well there's Quite a few! We aren't going to change our ways just bc some man hates woman that eat meat...

Well thank your ancestors of many generations ago who discovered that to eat meat meant they would live. Because they ate meat their bodies did not have to spend most of it's energy to digest the food and the protein was a powerhouse of energy and thus the brain was able to develop to a higher degree. They gave you the gift of a brain so that now YOU have the choice of eating meat or not. You're lucky to be in this society that you have that choice. In the past you ate what was available in order to live.

it is true that i eat some animals, but still many that i don't eat . i only eat four animals. i don't eat fish nor monkeys, and many people do the same.
would you eat fruits and veg. if you know they were alive and reproducing one day. you would because you have to. or else you'll die from starvation.
men ate meat for greater than thousands of years. meat tastes acceptable to most humans. and more important they feel filling. it is easier to get filled with small amount of meat than to use much more fruits and veg. to convince yourself that you're satisfied.
if you don't eat meat because you have pitty on animals, that means you're gentle and have a heart for other than humans which is good. but just because others have different beliefs doesn't mean that they are wronge. the problem of this world are totaly from beliefs.
besides, just because the animals are from a closer kingdome to humans, it doesn't mean that other kingdomes are less important.

Sorry but you sound like a wuss. I don't have a problem with people that want to go vegan. I do have a problem with people that are so squeamish about animals and/or death. Apparently you never grew up on a farm. Please understand the opposing point of view before forming such a concrete opinion. It will make you much more credible. If you are concerned about animal welfare, that is wonderful. However, trying to displace the proper order of the food chain, is not the way to go about it. Understand the place of animals and meat that society has deemed proper. If you choose to snub societal norms, then don't whine and cry when you are not accepted by people. It's time for you to grow up and become more tolerant of views you oppose.

I have been eating organic for about 7 years now - as much as I can. I will eat organic chicken and eggs and dairy.
One thing that concerns me is prions and mad cow disease. I read Mad Cowboy and Slaughterhouse and that really motivated me to make better eating choices. I also don't agree w/factory farming.
It may be a natural transition for me to eventually stop eating meat altogether. The more I read about parasites, hormones, antibiotics and pesticides the more concerned I get.
We also purify our drinking water here in the city. If you are not, I suggest you look into it. As you know city water is not always the best.

Ok wow! what do you mean the animal spends its whole life suffering??? we raise the animal to be eaten by us, so....that means we protect the animal and feed the animal until we want to eat it, the animal doesnt have to worry bout other animals (besides us) to eat it, and a good piece of stake should take more than 5 mins to eat.....Did you ever think of the poor plants that you eat, it is a proven fact the plants are living things to!!!! So, for now on, im gonna consider you a serial killer everytime you eat a salad.....heres some good advice.....Grab a big nice Rare Steak, take a bite, and let us know what you think about it, mabe even add some steak sauce to it!!!

Firstly, I'd like to say that I wish I had your strength. I wanted to be a vegetarian when I was younger, but my mom wouldn't allow it. However, I would like to say that I am now older and understand why she didn't allow me to become a vegetarian. You can not, no matter how hard you try, save every single animal from being eaten. Survival of the fittest still exists and your time would be better spent trying to get people to stop wearing dead animals. You have to accept the fact that the circle of life does in fact exist. Now, I'm not saying that everyone should eat meat for the heck of it, but as long as people eat it sparingly then it's fine to me. People should, however, appreciate the fact that an animal gave its life to them, and they should not take that lightly. You can't change every person's lifestyle, but you can change their attitude towards it. Animals don't have to suffer in the death process, and if you think about it, we are eaten away by decomposers when we die (It's gross but true).

I have been to the other side. I have heard the tomato scream. It's horrible. If you consider that (for the sake of arguement) that humans are animals than why would you attempt to change our nature (eating both meat and plant) and not attempt to change the nature of a lion or tiger and turn them into vegatarians. Some scientific studies (programs i've seen on Discovery and A+E, I have no link) suggest that plants do experience stress and pain.

God put man over the animals and instructed him to partake of them for food. What makes you think a cow or bull suffers all his life for our pleasure of eating it. If you think it is suffering explain how. It's out in the pasture grassing and eating when it feels like it and drinking water as it needs from a pond or other man-made containers for water. I don't see where it is suffering by doing what comes naturally. When it comes down to dropping them for human consumption it is done in a humane method.
You are entitled to eat just vegetables and fruits if you choose. But set there and say people that eat meat are wrong because they are eating what God has given us OK to eat. It's in the Bible. Read the book of Moses.
