Good News! You absolutley can demish arterial clogging and increase blood flow to the heart through diet and exercise. It is a well documented medical fact that this can be accomplished without medication. Please do an internet search for Dean Ornish, MD. He has done decades of research on heart disease and one of the books he has published is "How to Reverse Heart Disease." It takes a lot of dedication and dicipline, but if you follow his regimen it will drastically improve your cardiovascular health. The basic premise of his recommendations are that you adopt a very low fat vegetarian diet, with no more than 10% of your calories coming from fat. You can actually eat quite well on this sort of diet, but you will need to look at it as a life style change as thinking of it as diet is recipe for failure. Eating a low fat vegetarian diet is a challenge, but once you get accustomed to the diet it will not be so difficult. And I can assure you that by adopting this diet your overall health, both physically and mentally, will drastically improve. You will also need to incorporate regular moderate cardio exercise into your routine, the type of which will be determined by your physical capabilities. In addtion, you will need to adopt strategies to controll the stress in your life. By adopting these lifestyle changes you are empowered to improve your health and actually begin the process of reversing coronary artery disease. I think one of the best things about the program is that it can give you peace of mind, as you will come to understand that heart disease does not have to control your life. The peace of mind comes from knowing that the lifestyle changes you are adopting will improve your heart health, extend and improve the quality of your life, and you will come to fully realize and appreciate that you are empowered to maintain and improve your health. It may seem like an overwhelming and unrealistic plan, as the lifestyle changes will be difficult and adhered to for the remiander of your life time, but it is a small sacrifice to make considering the alternative to not improving your cardiovascular health. Feel free to contact me if you would like futher information or if you have any questions. You can do it! Best of luck to you.

Unfortunately, there is very little scientific evidence that shows diet and exercise alone can unblock a blocked artery. There has been some small studies that show moderate improvement if a severely restricted diet (like Dr. Dean Ornish's) is strictly followed, but most people cannot committ to the lifelong restrictions, and most fall back into old eating habits.

Most "clogged" arteries have to be opened with an angioplasty(stent) procedure, or a bypass operation.

If you have already had bypass surgery, the arteries that were blocked before will likely stay blocked. However, you can prevent new blockages from occuring by modifying your diet and adding routine exercise. Also, if you smoke, find a way to quit.

There's probably a plant or insect in the rain forrest that would work, but we will never know, if we don't stop destroying it. I'm a heart attack survivor. I had a 100% blocked LAD. I take a lot of medicine to help control this now, and I do try to eat better foods, Low Fat , Low Cholesterol, and Low Sodium. I exercise often, but part of the problem is hereditary. Not much you can do about that. I wish there was a natural way to reduce or totally clean up clogged arteries, but unless someone can make a fortune off of it, I don't see it coming on the market. Most pharmacutical companies are publicly traded which means they are looking out for share holders and not cures. Don't get me wrong, I'm very thankful for what I take to keep me going, but if a natural cure was available I wonder if we would ever know about it? Untill then, exercise, especially cardio, eat healthy, get rid of stress and most important, get your spiritual life in order. That way you cover all the bases!!

arteries dont clog up over nite. It can start from child hood eating habits that are never corrected so the clogs keep comming. you can get the balloon thing done and they will put in stints to keep the arteries open and maybe put you on blood thinners.Do you take an asprin every day?they to are blood thinners but ask your doctor first in the meantime eat well and walk alot. stay away from bad fats and cakes and pastries. read the food labels and see what is on them . check out the saturated fats.. stick with cannola oil if you must use anything . they also have spray cannola oil. stay awayfrom hard shortenings and hard butters and oleos and especially the stick kind

It's said that they can be opened by medications and diet and exercise but it is minimal and very slow. The one thing that would scare me about it is that the meds that are helping to dissolve the plaque could also cause a piece to breack off and that is big trouble. It is then called an emboli and will float around until it gets to a point where it gets stuck and blocks the blood flow. This would be called a stroke, heart attack, pulmonary emboli, or periferal emboli.

I would consult the Thoracic / cardiology surgeon on the possiblity of the angioplasty or various other methods to open it up.

Atherosclerosis vessels can be unclogged by good living and good drugs.
The body has mechanisms to slowly get rid of plaque but it isn't fast, it takes time, discipline in eating and exercise, but the most effective tool is drugs called "Statins." Good genetics help. Avoid getting there in the first place. You know what to do. Just do it. If you can figure out how to get us all to do the "Just do it." part you'll be rich.

P.S. Diabetes will speed atherosclerosis like crazy.

yes. by eating healthier things such as green vegtables and whole grain products (cheerios are great), you help unblock arteries. Exercise works well for loosing the weight and helping the heart pump blood but if you are severly overweight or recently had a heart attack it could hurt you. best bet, if you are bigger or recent heart attack is eat healther for a week or two THEN start slow workouts. If you are jsut out of shape and slightly overweight, starting both at the same time should be okay. Remember, green for lean and whole grain for low gain. I know, corny, but my doc told me this and its helped me out.
