The paper towel trick works really good if you need to remove the kernals while still raw but if you're cooking the kernals on the cob leave the silk on until after cooking! Once cooked almost all the silk will fall right off leaving only a few strands to remove by hand.

Once you've cooked it with silk on you'll never go back to trying to remove raw silk!

The best way I have found is with a vegetable brush. Brush the cobs against the silk and it comes off pretty easily.
