using ziplock bags...lots and lots of ziplock bags. keep all the unrefrigarated stuff together. also try and have everything prepared and ready to do.

don't forget your bug spray, sunblock, citranella candles, utensils, a grill, a big cooler, lots of water and other beverages, ice, portable stove, lighter, flashlight..etc.

Plan. Plan. Plan your meals. Breakfast stuff together. Lunch stuff together. Dinner - eat out! Utensils all together. If you prep everything like vegetables at home, it makes life so much easier. Foil cooking bags makes clean up so much easier, too.

Try this: French Onion Soup On the Campfire.

Scoop out a little bit of the center of a yellow onion.
Add a pat of butter and a little bit of beef bouillon in
center.
DO NOT ADD ANY WATER!!!!!
Optional: 1/4 t. thyme
Wrap tightly twice with foil.
Place on coals making sure cut part is on top.
When good & soft, carefully unwrap foil to make cup.

Tastes great as you're waiting for that grilled steak!!

ziplock bags are great. But also pack foil and cooking spray so you can do hobo pockets in the coals of a fire. If you have a dutch oven you can do just about anything in them you do at home in the oven. If you don't have one get one before you go. I just love mine. I have done cobbler, beans, BBQ beef brisket, cake and even stew in mine.

Pre-cut carrots, celery and onions at home. Put in ziplock back. take frozen stew meat (cut up pieces of beef) and grab a bag of potatoes (about 5 medium.) when you get to your camp ground you can either put this all in the dutch oven with a little bit of water, salt pepper and any other seasoning you pack. Put coals under and on top and just let it sit for several hours.

With out a dutch oven put in foil that was sprayed with oil and no water. Put in the coals for about 10-15 min. turning several times. This is really good also.

don't for get the stuff for smores or other snacks. I found that if you freeze all your meats before you go they stay cold as they would in a fridge. I also like to take a lot of veggies from my garden. They are really fresh.

I like to pack things that are light and easy to make over a campfire. Definitely need tinfoil and cooking spray. The shake and make pancakes are good for breakfast. A can of chicken, a can of cream soup, and rice plus seasoning makes a nice lunch/ dinner. We also used to go pick berries in season and put them in a dutch oven coat on the outside with dish soap for quick cleanup and cook them with a box of cake mix (yellow or white) over top till bubbly for a crisp type desert.

I make a variety of pre-prepared foods that I can then warm up there. For instance, herbed chicken or barbecued ribs. Then I FREEZE them and put them in ziplock bags. These stay cold the whole time as they thaw in the cooler alongside melting ice. Then I just wrap the stuff in foil and warm it up with the fire.

Also, to prep for smores, prefrost half of the graham squares with melted chocolate. Then pop them in the freezer for the chocolate to set. Pack the chocolated half with non-chocolate halves in a ziplock. The chocolate will melt when a toasted marshmallow is applied. This way you aren't fumbling with chocolate bars.

Pack only a gun and a knife. Shoot animals. Build fire with sticks. Cook animals. Eat them.

Use those bags where you can suck all the air out of them. It will save alot of room.
