Well, it depends. Vegetarians technically can, because they have only given up eating meat. Most vegans, however, won't buy cars with leather seats as they have also given up animal by-products along with meat. But it all goes down to the person and their ethics and what not, I suppose.

They wear leather shoes don't they? Why wouldn't they buy a car with leather seats. My ex-sister- in-law claimed she was a vegetarian, but she ate seafood, and occasionally chicken, and she wore leather shoes. That doesn't sound like a vegetarian to me.

I don't know cause I am not a vegetarian. But even though I'm not, I still wouldn't because when your car is sitting out on the parking lot on a hot day, your leg skin just about shrivels off when you sit on the burning seat.

My car seats are upholstered with fabric. But I preferred them that way even before I went veggie - it's gross to sit on leather(or vinyl, for that matter) when you're hot and sweaty and wearing shorts, and your car has been sitting in the sun.Ugh.By the way, the point Sugar Pie brought up; yes, fossil fuels are the remains of long dead animals, but human beings had nothing to do with their demise - humans didn't exist when these animals died.My main concerns are that fossil fuels contribute to pollution and are non-renewable resources. Therefore, I walk when it is feasible.

My friend's a vegetarian, and she won't buy anything leather, including shoes and coats. So I'm sure the leather car interior wouldn' t be OK

Some vegetarians only cut meat out of their diets for health reasons. If you are an ethical vegetarian/vegan (like me), you probably won't touch leather or animal bi products. You know, protesters, PETA members, etc.

You mean vegans, they are serious about not using animals for anything. They will protest a celebrity for wearing fur but I've never heard of them protesting a motorcycle club for wearing leather.

Some people don't have a "goal" to be a Vegan. Some people just choose sustainability or choose organics or no red meat or whatever. It's not smart to try to "categorize" people based on their eating habits, buying habits or whatever. People that become aware of issues are on their own paths to whatever works for them. I don't judge anyone for what they buy or eat. I just do what I feel is useful for ME and if someone wants some input on a healthier lifestyle, I'm willing to share my thoughts. No one else is accountable to me for what they put in their mouths.
