I had to take allergy shots. My parents gave them to me. Just before I quit them, I learned to give them myself.
The fact is that they won't hurt you anymore than many activities you probably enjoy. At least that was the case with me. I got hurt worse climbing trees than any shot ever did. Fishing can hurt worse too. Fear is mostly about the mind. It is about perceptions and anticipated perceptions. Studies have shown that anticipated events are usually feared more than an actual worse event. These studies usually involved pain such as pinches, needles, or electric shock. The volunteers always gave informed consent....who would volunteer?
Once you understand in your mind and in your heart that the needle will not really hurt you though the experience may be unpleasant, you should be able to give yourself the shot. It might help if you know someone who can give you the shot. Also try practicing on an orange or similar fruit. Practice builds confidence.
Once you are certain and confident that you know what you are doing, the rest will be easier, not easy but easier.
I offer advice based on the following experience. In the beginning, I would get the needle in and get scared and pull it out. At my request, my parents let me continue doing this until I finally had the sense to leave the needle in and give the injection. It probably took me 150 tries. By the way, that led to bad bruising that hurt worse than any shot I ever got. The shots themselves didn't really hurt.
What it all boils down to is education, confidence, and practice. It really is that simple. I hate to hear about the panic attacks. I hope that understanding will help with those. Again, a friend might help. Don't anticipate. You are not alone. It will be OK.

I am not diabetic but I am scared of them. I have to administer emergency assistance to kids who fall ill with hypos. I do not feel terribly confident about this and I have a medical condition myself which is often sparked by stress...so I have to say yes, SCARED.

Not really.
All I have to do is drink some juice and eat a few crackers.
Why should I be afraid of going low?

I think people that are afraid of going low probably are chronic wait-a-holics. Don't wait until your blood sugar gets to 21 before you do something about it.
And as far as night time goes, I always wake up when I'm low or if I'm going to bed and can't fall asleep 9/10 times it's because I'm low.
I test often and account for periods of activity and delayed meals...it's really easy to manage.

Hypos are okay if you got some sugar in you quick, I hated going hyperglycaemic, especially if I got sick and had to go into hospital.
