There are plenty of nutrients, but it's not a dish to eat too often because of the high level of bad fats.

All curry sauces, Madras particularly, depend on very high volumes of oil to create that distinctive smooth and sweet flavour. Because of this they tend to be high in saturated fat -the kind that causes thickening of the arteries. A good rule of thumb with curries is that the 'drier' the dish (i.e the less sauce there is) the healthier it is -jalfreezi and tandoori are much better than madras or tikka masala. You're certainly benefitting from using vegetables rather than meat though.

Similarly, proper pilau rice uses Ghee, a form of clarified butter. Again, high in saturated fat.

Naans are high in calories, and again, quite high in fat. Often in Inidan restaurants, when they bring the naan out, you can see the oil pooling in places on the bread.

Calories in themselves aren't bad (especially if you're skinny as a rake like me) but saturated fats are something to watch and the downside with curries is that you can easily get your whole daily allowance, or more, in a single meal.

I had a work colleague who regularly had a curry for lunch every day and he had a heart attack at 53. Go figure, as they say in America.

does it matter, it tastes so damn good. Just try to place the naan bread on a paper towel so it will absorb the oil. It is ok to eat these food once in a while if you are not used to it since birth.

Any curry is good for you as the spices help with the digestive system. As for the rice and NAan, go easy on them as they are high in carbs.

Depends how oily it is, but you can let the oil settle on the surface and mop it off with a piece of bread. And there's no protein in this meal, other than that loads of veg and carbohydrate so not bad.

Yep! I disagree with spices being hard on you unless you have an ulcer though. Do you know that in places like Mexico, the rate for ulcers is very low yet people eat very spicy chili's etc. Your menu sounds yummmm.

The spices, expecially the chilli, can be hard on the stomach. It tastes awesome, though, but it's as hard on the tummy as a whole nights drinking.
