No one knows for sure, but he will definately have a long happy life if he eats correctly and follows his doctors advice. My 6 yr old has Diabetes she has been on insulin since she was 22 months old. Its best for his sugars to remain as close to the target range the doctors have set for him if they get to high too often that is what is the most damaging to the body. And make sure he protects his feet!

I am writing to tell you what an incredible impact these methods had on my life! I have had type 2 diabetes for 27 years. For me, the worst part of this horrible disease is the severe pain I constantly get in my feet. The pain is so bad that I avoid standing and walking as much as possible. I've got to tell you that within the first month, my feet stopped hurting altogether and I can now walk totally pain free.
Believe it or not, I even danced at my niece's wedding last month, something I have not done in a many years. I've been following the book for six months now and my blood sugar is well within normal range. I feel great!
I recommend you use the Type 2 Diabetes Destroyer to naturally reverse your diabetes.

He can lead a very long and healthy life, but has to take precautions for the rest of his life. If it is not managed properly the risks are endless. Not only does he need to keep his diabetes under control, but he has to eat heart healthy starting now. Diabetes does terrible damage to the heart if his salt intake is high. This includes fast food and prepackaged foods all loaded with fat and sodium. I would say his diet is going to be the most important thing in his life. Unfortunately at a young age like 21, many people think that they can cheat and eat what they want. But that can really come back to haunt them in their mid 40's.
Prevention, prevention, prevention.

If your boyfriend takes good care of his glucose levels and has an A1C test run on him at least every three months to make sure his levels are at a good percentage, then he can live for a long time. He needs to watch his carbohydrates and make sure he is drinking plenty of water. Even with diabetes you can still enjoy sweets now and then. He also needs to check his sugars often if they are running very high. One word of caution, as long as the sugars are running out of control, this can cause bodily damage. The eyes, kidneys and loss of limbs are the major problems while levels are running high. Damage is being done. Be careful and watch those sugars! Being a man makes it a lot easier on him to as far as having children. Women have troubles during pregnancy which throws sugar levels way off balance. So that part is great for you if you decide to have children later on. Hope this helps.

YES people with diabetes can live as long as any normal person would, but the difference is he has to really take care of himself, he has to eat healthy, excercise, just be really fit, he also has to continually take his medications... If someone with diabetes though didn't take care of themselves that would be another problem, they can really be sick, I know this because my father in law has diabetes and he never takes care of himself, he always eats junk food, like fast food restaurants, never exercises, hes always home, and he doesn't even take medication because he doesn't want to pay for it. So the outcome? He had a triple bypass surgery, a stroke, and i think one heart attack, on top of that people with diabetes have a hard time healing because their immune system is not as fast, so he got a lil infection on his foot, which grew to be a really big infected hole on his ankle. So basically what i am trying to say is take care of your boyfriend, make sure he takes care of himself and he'll be OK.

As long as he keeps his blood sugars in range and his A1C tests stay below 7.0, the disease should not cause any sort of complications. In fact, he may be slightly healtier then the general population. I'd recommend researching diabetes a little bit. I appreciate when the girl that I am dating knows about it and can ask informed questions.

There is no reason he can't have a great long life as long as he keeps his blood surgar under control and follows his doc's advice.
He has grown up with the disease and should know how his body reacts to different stressors and when the time feels right talk with him about it so you know what to do just in case he has a reaction. Good Luck

he will have along life if he watches his sugar intake and makes serious lifestyle adjustments and takes appropriate herapy. spounds like he isnt insulin depandant, he needs to diet and exercise religeously, and if he is a smoker, than he had better QUIT.
People dont die from diabetes, they die from a cardio vascular complication as a result of diabetes.
