Does anyone know if Syphilis can make a man have infertility problems even if it was years ago and never got treated?

Absolutely! Syphilis is a very bad STD especially if it is left untreated! Untreated syphilis can lead to serious damage to the brain and the nervous system; mental deterioration; a loss of balance, vision, and sensation; leg pain; heart disease; and death. A fetus is at particular risk if the mother doesn't seek treatment; the chances for stillbirth and serious birth defects, including blindness, are very high.

If not detected and treated, syphilis may then progress to the tertiary (late) stage, the most destructive stage of syphilis. Syphilis can cause testicular atrophy. A low sperm count and low sperm motility are indicators of this condition. Also, elevated FSH levels and other hormonal problems are indicative of testicular damage. Some STDs like gonorrhea and chlamydia can cause infertility by blocking the epididimis or tubes. These conditions are usually treated by hormonal replacement therapy and surgery in the case of tubular blockage.
