I've never eaten asparagus or artichokes, but when some people cook them, they look delicious. I've never tried them because so many people say they taste horrible (most of these are people who pretty much dislike veggies as a rule, though). Is there anything you can compare them to, as for taste? Do you have any good non-frilly recipes for either?

Beautiful flavour, very similar to peas. You have to be careful with the freshness. If it is not particulary fresh produce, it can have a really bitter flavour.
It is delicious either just steamed and eaten al dente so the flavour is fresh and is also delicious if it is roasted in the oven with olive oil and garlic. Give it a go!

What Does Asparagus Taste Like

I've never had artichokes, so I can't answer that. I can't really think of anything to compare asparagus to, but your best bet is just to try it! What have you got to lose, especially since you think it looks delicious?? I always thought I would hate asparagus because it looks (and smells) kind of gross, so I never tried it. Then one day, I had some on my plate at a restaurant, so I just sucked it up and tried some. It is so good! Just give it a try. You can't decide whether or not you like something based on what other people say it tastes like. Everyone's tastes are different. Hope you enjoy!

Oh yeah, and I always just put them in a pan with some extra virgin olive oil and cook them for five minutes or so.

I have only tried Asparagus in the last year and have microwaved it and boiled it. There is no taste that describes it, just delicious and sprinkle Wine Vinegar over before eating.

My father and I usually have it with Salmon and Vegetables, so we put Wine Vinegar over the whole dish.

I have tried Artichokes twice cooked by an Italian woman, but they were average, but you have to mess around picking the leaf off the Artichoke, then dipping them into a sauce and then getting the lower half of the leaf in your bottom teeth and scraping off the bottom layer. Want to try them again now and see what else I could do with them. Thanks.

I think asparagus tastes good.

Easiest and best way to cook it - steam it. Or try it raw. I'm trying to think what whould I compare it with - kinda hard... When cooked - maybe like string beans, but very diffrent gentle texture.

Also goes well if sauteed with mushrooms and a creamy sause.

I don't really like artishokes unless they are marinated, so no I'd say they taste very different.

Asparagus - try roasting them with a bit of oil in an oven, sprinkling whatever seasoning comes to mind. Dip them in your favorite salad dressing or a hollendaise for flavor.

Artichokes - steam them for a good while. you can eat the leaves by stripping them with your teeth and you can eat the heart (once you scrape off the choke). Lightly salt them as desired and dip them in melted butter or homemade mayonnaise.

uncooked asparagus tastes like green beans, cooked it is slightly different, artichokes taste more earthy. Try 'em to know!

They each have their own distinct taste and are really great although some people have to acquire a taste for them. SO if you are a veggie hater they probably are not for you but they go great with a wide variety of meals as a veggie.
