Yeah, you should go to the doctor just to be safe. I was having similar problems, where my heart would just start fluttering and I couldn't get my breath, but it didn't turn into anything serious. I had it checked out, and it was behaving abnormally, but not frequently enough to make a difference, if that makes any sense. Might as well just put your mind at ease and see the doctor.

Depending on your age, medical history, etc. It could be any number of things ranging from what are called PAC's (premature atrial contractions) or PVC's (premature ventricular contracitons). These are just beats that are out of place, but can feel really funny. No treatment is required.
However many of the things you described can also be associated with more serious "arrythmias" (abnormal heart rhythms). You should definitely consult your doctor. It doesn't necessarily have to be a cardiologist at first.
They will likely set you up with what is called a Holter Monitor which you will wear for 48 hours or so and it will run a continuous EKG on your heart hopefully during one of these episodes so your doctor can see what it is.
Yes, it could be a panic attack, but that is what we call a "diagnosis of exclusion" meaning, you have to make sure nothing else is causing it first!
Hope this helps

I have the same thing and when mine thumps I can also feel it in my throat and it makes me cough I guess to catch my breath. I have had an EKG and I wore the heart monitor for 24 hours, they were both normal. When I try to explain it to the any doctor, they just blow it off like it's no big deal, but to me it is very scary. I have had some people mention panic attacks also, but I am like you, I will be perfectly happy maybe just having a conversation and it will have. Mine happens several times a day. I think it is probably something to do with the valve like warhundus said. I think now that I have read this I am definitely going to see a heart Dr..........Good luck!

I easily have a son, Joey Niceforo, who's a gentle 27 3 hundred and sixty 5 days old tenor, with a set noted as "DESTINO" recording in Vancouver Bc, Canada. For the superb few weeks Joey has had a chilly. very few days in the past he stepped ahead an ear discomfort, a swollen ear and absence of listening to. He became clinically determined with serous otitis media (center ear an infection). the major situation we've is that Joey and the team DESTINO were booked to open the Marie Osmond prepare in Disney international on April 3, Have a speedy medical look after our son?? Joey's ear were given more desirable helpful basically previously flying. He even were given the particular ear plugs for flying, and arrived in Florida, from Vancouver, on April 1st. On April 2d he informed us the ear became very just about one hundred p.c., and he will, with the different, tremendous DESTINO tenors be appearing, in the COLORADO BALL ROOM DISNEY international tonight at 7 pm. This help became so sensible, and effective, to our youthful Canadian tenor, Joey Niceforo. i'm positive this enter and medical care suggestion will, and has helped others.

When I was 22, I went to the emergency room because my heart was beating irratically and I counted the rate at about 240 beats per minute. In the ER, I was seen immediately and the doctor brushed it off like it was anxiety. They actually told me I was having panic and gave me a nerve pill in the ER. About a year later it happened again, and again, and again out of the blue, for no reason, For years this went on and I believed I was having panic attacs. Finally, it happened and didnt stop. I had to go back to the ER and was once again told I was having a nervous condition. They gave me some IV beta blocker a nerve pill and sent me home. 2 years ago, it happened and I had to get a drug called Adenocard which stops your heart for a couple seconds and makes it start beating normal. Finally, on my own, I looked up an electrophysiologist. A patient of mine had the same thing I was doing and gave me his name. I called him and he cured me. I said all of this to encourage you to see your doctor. I had the same symptoms your having. Dont blow it off.

sounds like you may have mytro-valve prolapse, i'm no doc, but if i were you, i'd go and see one, and soon! i get the same symptoms, only instead of shortness of breath i cough, each time my heart thunks, (i was told it's not the heart, but one of the valves), and they said if there was any shortness of breath to go to a doctor. hope this helps you out!

I have had heart problems in the past, you should definitely see a cardiologist as soon as possible to diagnose that situation. They will run controlled tests to figure out what it is.

Could be any number of things, from Prinzmetal's angina to intermittant atrial fibrillation and a host of things in between. I strongly suggest you see a cardiologist and have a complete workup.
