Great list Ninni. Does this mean sales of vegetarian beer will plummet when devout meat eaters find out lol

They are all suitable for vegetarians, only freaky vegans would worry about gelatine filtered beer!! But I'm sure the German "Reinheitsgebot" a beer brewing law that is still upheld by German breweries wouldn't allow that so with our beer you should be on the safe side!!

What you are referring to is the fining process which uses a kind of gelatin from the swim bladder of a fish called isinglass.
Not all beers use this (there are other finings they can use) but it is the one thing to watch for when researching beers suitable for vegans.
I believe that most genuine lagers (which use a bottom fermenting yeast) do not need finings, so Grolsh or Kronenbourg or Heineken, for example would be OK.
Yeast is not an animal. It is a single celled fungus and therefore vegetable.

Most Microbrews are Vegetarian. (Depends if you think of yeast as animals - if you do then no beer is vegatarian) There should only be four ingredients in beer. Water, Yeast, Hops, and Barley. After that there shouldn't be a filtering process, but I know "brewers" do this. Mostly because people seem to be fans of clear beer. Also, most gelatine is not made from animal products. Not because of animal wellfare, but because it is cheaper to make gelatine/like products in other ways.

I thought all beer was vegan-suitable...it's made from grain...I've actually been to a brewery (in England) and saw the process...had no idea there was any non-vegetable product in it, not even sure there is...very interesting question, one that never would have crossed my mind...
Wow...thank you Ninni...I had to check that list out...had absolutely no idea...I'm not a vegan myself, but I know a few...impressive find...you've got my vote if it comes to it...
